As she was about to confront Paragus, Brokka had suddenly erupted from the earth and eviscerated the old warrior without as much as a word. Celeria's brows furrowed at Brokka's methods, albeit she could not help but feel approval, in a sense. A brutal end for a shameful coward. The remote Paragus had used to control Broly had come off and tumbled down beneath Celeria's heel.

Brokka and Celeria's eyes met and the following few moments seemed to stretch unto eternity. The heaving of their chest cavities began to coordinate in rhythm and the lines of their faces seemed to deepen, as if their very expressions were communicating to one another. Finally, the Commander gave a curt nod before crushing the remote control device underfoot, ending the travesty that was Broly's savage imprisonment.

She relaxed her muscles and approached the General, as they simultaneously turned around, positioning themselves back to back and focusing in unison at the menacing green star in the sky. The sensation was surreal, yet felt as natural as breathing. The two golden warriors looked on in silence, their auras joining in one primed, raging torrent of unfathomable power.

The device shattered in glittering sparks of dust, and the Commander nodded at Brokka with affirmation. Then, without words, the two approached one another, coming within breathing distance, before turning back to back. Suddenly they no longer occupied the same space, they were the same space. The golden flames of energy that danced around both of them merged into a single stream of light, and the warriors looked up towards the green supernova in unison. Silence dominated the planet as they glanced to the sky with a single vision.

Celeria, overflowing with focus, spoke. “You ready?”

Brokka grinned, slowly. So the Legendary Super Saiyan was real, and it wasn’t him after all? Imagine that. He cracked his knuckles in anticipation, and readied himself for a battle that would transcend the ages. Was he ready? She better damned believe it.

“Now!” His grin mutated into a frenzied mask of war and their energies simultaneously exploded. Instantly, they were gone.

“How can he have no limit – not even a Super Saiyan keeps increasing their power forever, right?” Keyla said, reeling at what Paragus had revealed.

The Doctor lightly shook his head and maintained his battle posture, he watched vigilantly as Celeria slowly approached Paragus. Would she kill him – could she kill him? That control device strapped to his hand was the source of controlling Broly, and from the looks of it, they needed all the control they could get right now. Maybe they could beat Paragus into submission, and force him to make Broly yield. In failing that, they’d have to take the device from him and try to operate it themselves. These were the only viable methods that Kale could delineate; after all, going toe to toe with that crazed god was insane. Still, the Doctor couldn’t quite fathom Broly’s energy; it was simply a bottomless pit swirling with raw power. But how was he able to generate it? How was any sentient life form capable of channelling the power of what felt like an entire galaxy? Freeza had been right to fear his people; first there had been Celeria and Brokka, and now there was Broly.

“You wouldn’t like what I’m feeling Keyla. It’s as if he’s impossible. There’s no boundary to his strength, it just keeps growing and growing. He’s a monster.” The Doctor muttered through a shudder.

“Monster or no monster, there is such majesty at display.” Magma chimed in. “What a time to be alive, when great golden horned creatures spawn in this universe so frequently. What you feel is not fear, physician, it is truth; the only universal truth: power.” Magma dived into the air and forward somersaulted, before pulling his claymore from its sheath and reading himself for battle. He looked comically small compared to his weapon; Kale would have chortled had he been in better spirits.

“Nope, I’m definitely sure I’m feeling fear, Magma.” Kale quipped, clenching his fists. Any moment now, Celeria would collide with Paragus.

Before this eventuality could be reached, however, the unthinkable occurred. The ground opened into a gorge, and out came Brokka, bathed in golden light. Suddenly, the resurrected General did away with Paragus, throwing his corpse to the floor in a gall of blood. Kale’s senses exploded, and he watched ever closer as Celeria crushed the only means of controlling Broly. He froze where he stood, his breath retracting back into his lungs as he felt any chance of survival slip away. Idiots! What were they doing? They couldn’t sense what he could; they couldn’t see that it was impossible to beat Broly in single combat. The Doctor’s face flushed of all colour and he took a step back.

“Bravo!” Yelled Magma, almost jumping out of his skin with glee. “Such majesty!” He said, almost wistfully as he celebrated the union of Celeria and Brokka.

Before Kale could intercept Celeria to warn her about Broly, already it was too late. In an action that the Doctor had only seen play out in his nightmares, the General and the Commander appeared to form an unspoken pact. Suddenly they stood back to back, their energies aligning until he found it difficult to differentiate between the two. Then, they vanished.

“Guys...” Kale eventually uttered. “What did we just see?”

"Well, you're the friggin’ doctor! You tell me what the heck is going on because I can't even anymore!" Cayenna raved, as she threw her hands in the air in utter surrender.

Kale looked directly at the Lieutenant and shrugged. “My medical diagnosis is that we’re all dreaming... Or we have psychosis.” His face still had the pallor of a blank sheet of paper.

“Kale...” Keyla eventually said.

“Oh, so that’s the doofus’ name!” Cayenna interrupted, still waving her hands around in confusion.

“Right, everybody... standby.” Kale ordered, as if anybody actually had any other choice. “WHEN it gets mucky, and it WILL, we ARE going to intervene. Do you understand me?” He looked directly at Cayenna as he spoke; each syllable was uttered with assertiveness. Celeria would probably lose her cool if they tried to get involved now, and Brokka would probably flat out kill them. Kale knew they had to wait until those two knew there was no other option. Still, the thought that Celeria and Brokka had joined in even the loosest of unions upset Kale to the stomach. It seemed he had to make a serious concession, and that was that those two warriors, no matter how different, were not as different as he had thought.

Broly was a warrior reborn. The shy and vacant boy who had held onto Celeria with all of his heart had been swallowed whole; consumed by the incredible power that burnt in his core. His body, unrecognisable from its previous state, blazed in golden green light. His muscles pulsated and expanded by the second, swelling and veining like a giant cocoon. He raged at the centre of a mile-wide sphere of emerald energy that scorched in the volcanic sky. With each second, his energy burst and combust, ravaging everything in its wake. This unstoppable power, the likes of which had never been witnessed before, now threatened to tear a hole in not just this world, but the entire universe. At the epicentre of the chaos, the renewed and enraged Broly vindictively laughed. His laughter carried through the hot volcanic winds and melded with the roaring magma, until a compound of sounds was formed that screeched with the sense of pure dread.

Seldom had he ever awakened the monster within as he had now. Rarely did he ever feel the rush of power that took him as it had in this moment. Broly had been a caged animal for too long, forced into subjugation behind a weak shell of his own subservient flesh. But no more! Now he knew the truth, and those Saiyans that had condemned him to death would smoulder at his feet until they melted. His mother had betrayed him; she had wished death upon him and his father to forge an alliance with General Brokka. It was clear now, Broly’s mind was freed of its prior constraints and the haze of lies and deceit had eviscerated before him. He would crush the both of them. Celeria would pay for casting him into oblivion, but Brokka would suffer more than any man.

As his energy soared and his laughter pierced the air, Broly hardly noticed his enemies approaching. They moved with considerable speed, intertwining with one another so that no single target was clear. The smile carved into Broly’s face deepened, they were fools. With this power he didn’t need precision, and he didn’t need tactics. He was a god, and he would prove his overwhelming might to the worms. Brokka and Celeria came within metres of Broly before he even graced them with acknowledgement. But before they could even lay a finger on him, he was gone. With stifling speed that caused the winds to still and simmer, Broly shot past Celeria, backhanding her out of the way. The mighty Saiyan Commander instantly recoiled, plummeting to the ground with incredible force and speed. She would remain out of his way for now, as it was Brokka that he intended on crushing first.

Before the General could even look in the space that Celeria once occupied, the Legendary Super Saiyan held him by the skull and lifted him into the air. He laughed as Brokka’s mottled face squelched in his powerful grasp.

“I will massacre you first, General Brokka!” He mocked, his voice heavier and more menacing than it had ever been before. Suddenly Broly erupted in more sinister laughter, as he dragged the General by the skull into a mountain face. Brokka’s golden mane shattered against the rock, and his body rag-dolled like a puppet as Broly used the General’s head to cut the mountain in two. Brokka struggled, but his efforts were futile. As he scrambled to free himself of Broly’s iron grip, the Legendary Super Saiyan tightened all the more. He could feel the maggot’s cranium yielding under his grasp, and should he desire, he could collapse Brokka’s head in an instant. As Broly cleared the mountain with a frantic General Brokka in hand, they suddenly reached the precipice of an active volcano.

“I wonder, can I melt your flesh like I have your courage?” The Legendary Super Saiyan exploded with more and more laughter.

As they rushed to meet Broly head on, Celeria felt a newfound reassurance fill her mind. This unlikely alliance might just be the key to defeating Broly and making it out alive from this impossible situation. The Commander deigned that with their combined military expertise, Brokka and herself would be able to subdue the beast eventually. As they prepared to execute their offensive, however, everything came crashing down. Their target had swiftly disappeared only to reappear directly in front of the General, despite the complex combat flight patterns they had engaged.

As he grabbed Brokka's skull, Celeria instinctively launched a kick to Broly's side to absolutely no avail. He wasn't even slightly affected. As her eyes widened with disbelief, the back of Broly's hand connected with her face in a brutal backhand that burst all the capillaries in her nose and splintered both her upper and lower lip, instantly filling her mouth, sinuses and throat with blood as she plummeted to the ground under the crushing force of the shockwave Broly's simple attack unleashed.

Calling upon her superior focus, Celeria was able to shut out the searing pain in her rattled brain and sommersault in mid-air, outstretching her arms and legs out and regaining her composure as she blasted right after the two. She had clenched her hands into fists and brought them together, disappearing mid-flight only to reappear above Broly, attempting to hammer him down, but milliseconds before her attack connected, Broly disappeared, burrowing Brokka's face into the mountain at a speed she could barely follow.

Celeria let out a scream of anger as she propelled herself towards them with all her might. She attempted every single close combat move that she knew, but none even managed to dent Broly's flesh. And then she realized, he was actually letting her hit him. Her gaze panned upwards to meet his eyes, gleaming with perverse satisfaction. He outstretched his palm and fired a massive wave of ki at her before she could even trigger her reflexes. Instead, she just crossed her arms to shield herself from the brunt of the assault as her feet burrowed into the soil. She barely managed to hold on but then Broly increased his output and blew her away from where she was standing.

Broly reappeared above her mid-flight and crushed her into the soil, kicking her limp body away a few paces. They had landed on the edge of a gigantic volcano, Celeria could feel the torrents of magma thundering beneath her.

"Now be good and stay put, mother. You will have your turn soon enough. But first..."

All her muscles were searing with pain and her bones felt like mush. She was completely undone as she gazed helplessly at Broly lifting Brokka up by the gullet and smashing his face repeatedly with his free hand until the General's features were all but completely obscured by his spraying blood. Then, Broly paused for a moment to fire a small ball of ki into the mouth of the volcano. The ensuing tremors of the rising sea of lava followed.

“I wonder, can I melt your flesh like I have your courage?” - Broly erupted into a sinister laughter as he carried Brokka's battered body towards the edge, dangling it off the precipice.

Brokka... the bastard General, the tyrannical ruler, the merciless foe. The bane of her existence, the plight of her soldiers. A waste of potential. Worthless... saiyan.. flesh.

... saiyan... flesh... saiyan blood...

Celeria's ki ignited as she clawed her hands deep into the soil, getting herself up to her feet, gritting her teeth with effort as she rose on one knee and then disappeared from her position.

The Commander appeared directly behind Brokka and, spreading her arms wide open, locked the General tightly into her embrace, interlocking her arms around his waist. She could smell his blood and feel his muscles spasming in agony. Celeria had come undone in but a few blows and Brokka had taken the brunt of Broly's fury. His suffering might have been maddening, but she would not let him die. She pressed herself tightly against the General as she stared Broly down over Brokka's shoulder.

"Stop this madness NOW, Broly! Or you will have to kill us both."
- she barked.

There she was, entwined with her worst enemy, sharing his fate whatever it may be. In the end, she was no ruthless leader. In the end, all that mattered to her was to save a saiyan life. They were all blind to the importance of life - Cold, Cooler, Frieza, Brokka, Broly - everyone! Well, she was blind no more! She would see her mission fulfilled of preserving saiyan lives, even if it meant sacrificing herself. Her rage swelled until it erupted from her throat in a powerful roar.

"WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? DO YOUR WORST! Because I am NOT letting him go."

Brokka’s face ground against mountain and volcano like a cheesegrater. The pain came is intervals, first his skin frayed and bruised, and then his flesh began to wear, eroding until it was a crimson pulp. He had not felt such agony since he was a child under the tutelage of his father. As a great Saiyan warrior, Brokka had seldom felt so useless, so utterly at the mercy of another’s strength. This experience was sobering, and the power currently being cast at the General was maddening. All of this would have broken another warrior’s mind before it shattered their body. But, Brokka wasn’t just any warrior, he was the mightiest General of the Planet Vegeta, and it would take more than a face full of volcanic rock to pacify him. As his face hung over the precipice of the volcano, his bloodied cheeks swelled with the rising heat of the bubbling magma. His gaze was hazy and obscured by his own blood, but he knew what was about to come. Instantly he grimaced, his large fists buried into the rock and his face screwed into absolute rage. He had seconds to free himself from Broly’s hold; just moments to tear away from this relentless freak, otherwise he would be bathing in lava. Brokka, preoccupied by his own eminent need to escape, ignored the viscous taunts of his adversary, instead only paying attention as Celeria took hold of his dangling form.

In brief disorientation, the General scanned the innards of the volcano, and then he looked towards the Commander, who had secured him in a bear hug. He exhaled, one part in relief, the other in revulsion. How had it come to this? The tiny Commander saving the mighty Brokka, times had certainly changed. Finally, letting go of all his past prejudices to focus on the battle at hand, Brokka spoke to Celeria.

“Is it true - is this freak another of your childen?” He turned his head to the side and spat a globule of blood infused phlegm

“No.” She said instantly, neutrality in her tone.

“Of course not...” Brokka concluded, with a grin. Then, in a last ditched attempt to salvage his flesh from the flame, the General exploded in torrents of energy. “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!” His roar shook the volcano and the surrounding mountains to the core and with every fibre of his incredible abilities, Brokka tore himself free of the freak’s grasp. Then, still in Celeria’s grip, he reversed, propelling himself and the Commander backward several metres until they were clear of the volcanic face. He had managed to act just in time, as no soon as they cleared the area, molten lava spewed from the volcano, hissing as it scorched the air and obscured the view of Broly. Brokka finally panted, but only for an instant, before disappearing in super speed.

Finally, Brokka and Celeria reappeared either side of the now erupting volcano. The burgundy hue of the magma cast a solid light on the silhouettes of the warriors, their cold and callous faces briefly being washed away in a sheet of crimson. The Legendary Super Saiyan simply laughed at the two warriors, completely uninhibited by their escape. Then, he raised both of his hands and clenched them into fists, and a green force field hummed around his body. His energy continued to soar, climbing and climbing to new heights with each wasted moment. The longer the battle tarried, the more superior he became on the battlefield, he truly was an abomination.

Brokka allowed his golden aura to trundle like a storm once again, and dropped into his most formidable combat form. He smirked as he scrutinised Broly’s lack of defence. This bastard was so cocky, so powerful, that he never even had to concern himself with combat decorum. This truly was the fight of the century, and the General was about to reap from this hunt the mightiest of pelts. Finally, as the magma slowed, pouring down the volcano as opposed to spewing, the General and the Commander traded a glance of affirmation.

Combat was instantly initiated, and Brokka and Celeria engaged the freak from both sides. Through a slew of punches, kicks, combos and even ki blasts, the two military veterans attempted to exact hell on Broly. Brokka himself drove uppercuts into the monster’s jaw, and roundhouse kicks into his gut. But each attack seemed to be absorbed into Broly’s overwhelming muscle mass. At first, the freak deflected all opposition with a series of parries and blocks, but as the skirmish dragged on, he simply crossed his massive arms and dodged. He started to chortle madly again, his laugher growing in decibels as both Brokka and Celeria executed their most formidable combos. The more his mocking laughter raged on, the more ferocious Brokka became. But as the General upped the ante, so did Broly increase his own capabilities.

After an infinity in the form of a couple of minutes, Broly was finally done with the games. Extending his elbow, he drove it into Brokka’s chest, winding him instantly.

“We’ll play soon General. Now it’s mother’s turn to burn. Ha-ha-ha-ha!” Brokka’s body, utterly exhausted, tumbled onto a large cliff on the volcano. The rocks shattered and fissured around his body and he scrambled to climb to his knees. He grimaced, conserving everything he could of his ki. Damn it, he’d never faced such impossible odds, and yet, he was thrilled that he had gone in search of this challenge.

Instantly after capsizing the General, Broly pursued Celeria, grabbing her by her golden forks of hair. As he lifted the mighty Commander like a toy above his head, he formed a fist with his free hand and drove it several times into her nose. Blood instantly splurged from the wound. He continued to mock both warriors and he continued his assault. It was as if his mind had been completed addled by the river of power that constantly ran through his veins.

“Did you think you could kill me, mother? Did you think you would never pay for your crimes? I will show you your own personal oblivion!” Broly summoned a green ball of ki into his free hand, and it swelled to the size of several melons. As Brokka watched on his knees from the cliff-edge, he remembered the overwhelming strength of such a menial attack. If the Commander was met directly with that blast then she would instantly be rendered unconscious, or even dead. This wouldn’t even act as a sufficient enough distraction for Brokka to figure out a way to kill the freak. And, there was no denying it now, not after this battle, but the Commander complimented Brokka’s arsenal perfectly. Her death, now at least, would be problematic. The great General Brokka never needed anybody, but at this very moment, he needed Celeria to remain alive.

His energy exploded around him again in fits of golden fury. He was beginning to run on dregs and fumes, but his Saiyan adrenaline and pride were footing most of the labour. He had to draw that damned freaked away, and he had to do it now if he wanted to preserve any chance of victory.

“BROLY!” He gruff voice bellowed, carried by his ki. Suddenly, the Legendary Super Saiyan stopped his assault on Celeria and looked back at Brokka with a grin.

“Paragus was right. I TOLD the Commander to kill you because I thought you were nothing. Your very existence marred our race, so I MADE her destroy you. And do you know... I would do it all over again.” Brokka’s face flooded with sham confidence, and he spat another ball of his own blood. “You are an abomination, and I would slaughter you one thousand times over to prevent your mediocrity from shedding another breath.”

Broly’s insane laughter suddenly gave way to aggressive silence. Without hesitation, he loosened his grip on Commander Celeria, and his green aura burst to life. Brokka could see him becoming more and more powerful, the very sight was impossible. He readied himself for another onslaught, if he didn’t rise to this challenge now then quite frankly he didn’t deserve to survive. The General had always lived by a single principle, and should be fail in that then he was as good as dead. What was that principle? – Win, or die.

Broly landed with a thud at the precipice of the small cliff, and began walking towards Brokka slowly with menace. The General smiled through gritted teeth and unleashed a blast with both of hands at Broly. The Legendary Super Saiyan just walked through the river of energy slowly, unafraid, and undeterred.

Cayenna looked on, but failed to make sense of anything that was happening. First, the General and Celeria, sworn enemies had united like it was nothing. Then, their perfectly coordinated onslaught was rendered useless by the sheer brutality of this beast. And as this Broly guy ran Brokka into the ground, Cayenna stood dumbfounded.

"It just... isn't possible."

She watched Celeria try to free Brokka from the monster's grasp, but it was like she was a feather trying to tear down a steel wall. Her hits merely landed, they left no trace of damage. Cayenna's mouth fell open as Broly dangled Brokka over an active volcano and then things got even more weird. Out of nowhere, Celeria appeared and actually embraced her bitter rival like it's no big deal.

"Hey Doc... do you have any of those... what are they called, erm... fall-flat-on-your-face pills? 'Cause I sure need some right now."

In the distance, Chardok was staring at the battlefield, mouth agape, with the little icejin equally wide-eyed next to him.

The sights of the battle with Broly were impossible. Kale could hardly believe his eyes as he watched the Legendary Super Saiyan rip Celeria and Brokka a proverbial ‘new one’. They’d since levitated out of the crumbling installation, and now the whole group observed the action from afar. On more than one occasion, the hairs on Kale’s tail had stood on end as Broly had brutalised all opposition. The Doctor had even felt a twang of empathy for Brokka, as his face had been boiled over the opening of a volcano. Just a day ago, Kale would have dreamt about Brokka’s ugly face being melted off, but now he’d somehow unofficially joined their side. The Doctor never liked it, not one bit.

As Cayenna spoke, Kale sharply shook his head. “No, but please, if you find any do pass them along to the group. We’re all overdue our medication.” He quipped, his face still flushed of colour.

“You feel it, don’t you physician? The tallest one is getting stronger; soon our great horned allies will fall.” Magma said, still gripping onto his claymore. “We should intervene, at once!”

“Doctor, is that true?” Keyla said with surprise in her voice.

“...I... I don’t know. The Commander is pretty tough, and so is Brokka, but that guy’s in a whole other league. We need to do something soon. That or I come up with some sort of cock and bull plan.” Kale shrugged to himself. “Cayenna, dare I ask, what would Brokka have you do now?” He waited, already aware of the response before it was spoken.

"What does it even fucking matter? Bloody hell, I'm starting to think it would've been better that we got swallowed up by that blasted black hole." - the Lieutenant threw her hands up in the air in resignation.

Kale slowly nodded, and he crossed his arms. That’s right; he supposed Brokka’s opinion hardly mattered in this instance. He had to make a decision now, did he throw all of them into the head of battle, or-

Did she just say black hole? The Doctor’s mind started racing, instantly sparks of thought linked to other thoughts. He was having an idea, and it was a damned good one.

“Everyone SHUT UP!” He said, tapping his cranium with both hands. “I’m having one of those things...” He said, his words failing him as he examined all angles of his plan.

“Things?” Keyla raised an eyebrow.

"Gas?" - Cayenna mocked.

“A brain thing!” He yelled back, impatiently.

“An aneurysm?” - Magma chimed.

“A plan...?” Keyla eventually concluded.

“A plan! Yeah, that’s it baby. The Doctor’s back in business!” Kale thrust with his clenched fists and smiled, before realising how lame he sounded. He instantly retracted his shambolic gesture.

“Right, guys, do you think the Commander and the General still have sufficient enough ki to send Broly hurtling into space?" - he mumbled, more to himself.

"How the heck should I know? They're still alive, aren't they? That usually means they have ki." - Cayenna shrugged.

“Doctor, they look like they’re struggling to stand.” Keyla confessed, stroking her head. “You might be making a tall order.”

“Well, it’ll have to do, because this is our best chance at winning.” He said, racing around the assembled motley crew. “The black hole, I noticed it when I arrived, but I never thought it was significant enough to bring up until now. It’s at the edge of the system, meaning it’s far, but at the speed ki can travel it’s not THAT far.”

“Spit out your machinations tall fool!” Magma said at a loss of his patience.

“Gee, tough crowd.” Kale rolled his eyes. “Anyway, all I need to do is work out the exact coordinates of the black hole from wherever they’re standing, then I can guide their blasts and... BAM. No matter what Broly is, he gets reduced to a singularity.” Kale smiled and winked. “And yes, that’s even smaller than you, Magma.”

"Then what the heck are we waiting for? Let's blast the bastard!" - Cayenna clenched her hand into a fist with a punching gesture.

"Heck yeah! Me first!" - Chardok quipped from behind.

"Er..." - Chardok interjected a second later - "How are we going to do that?"

"Elementary, my dear saiyans! And, uh, Magma!" - Kale jested eagerly as he began outlying his plan. It was a long shot by all means, but it was all they had.

Celeria fell limp to her knees as Broly dropped her to the ground. She began to fall forward and she landed on her open palms, coughing up blood and dirt, her breath heavy and her chest burning. Brokka's words rang in her ears. He was goading Broly, signing his own death warrant. Sod it all - since when was General Brokka so bloody keen on ending his own life? - The Commander thought to herself. But if he dies, they all die. As long as they both drew breath, they had a chance at victory. She had to do something and she had to do it fast.

Her breath slowed as she regained her composure in the seconds to come and strangely, she found her strength returning to her. Then it dawned on her. Ah, beast. Finally some use of you, she murmured in her mind as she slowly rose to her feet. Commander Celeria arched her back and flexed the muscles of her upper body with grace and poise. She took a deep breath, filling her lungs to the brim and exhaling the scorching air of the atmosphere.

"Oh no, you don't." - she focused her intent eyes on Broly, inhaling sharply between clenched teeth.

"HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!"

The Commander tapped into her newly acquired potential, exploding into a burning, blinding maelstrom of concentrated might that splintered the soil beneath her feet and illuminated her surroundings into a haze. But she would give no quarter. Not this time.

Instantly, she propelled herself forward with all her might. Broly had half-turned around, just as she expected. Tightening her muscles and holding her breath, she headbutted him with full force. The force of the impact made her head spin but years of rigorous training ensured the execution of her next move. A fraction of a second after contact was made and Broly flinched slightly, she bounded off him and delivered a bone-shattering hit directly to the base of his skull. Broly staggered a few steps back as Celeria brought her hands together.

"FINAL FLASH!" - she released her concentrated fury through her joined palms. The attack grew in size exponentially and by the time it reached Broly, it had gathered enough momentum to propel him further away. This gave Celeria the window of opportunity to sommersault through the air and land next to the General.

Without hesitation, she grabbed Brokka's arm and shoulder, getting him to his feet. She let him lean on her for a few moments, as he did not have the benefits of alien DNA reconstituting him, thus he would need more time to gather the remains of his strength. Time she had managed to buy.

"Don't let him break our formation. Glory is of no use to the dead, General. If we are to survive this, we must fight side by side at all costs." - she urged.

As Broly regained his bearings and began to advance, she carefully let Brokka stand on his own.

"Stay close, no matter what. Now - let us finish this!" The Commander assumed a neutral stance that would make both offense and defense as effortless as possible. In expectation of the encounter, Celeria found she no longer cared about the outcome. She only cared about giving it her all.

No matter what Brokka threw at Broly, he appeared utterly indestructible. As the General poured gallons of his energy into a river of ki, the Legendary Super Saiyan simply walked through the blast, cutting right through the centre as if it was whipped cream. Closer and closer he came to Brokka, his smile deep and sinister as his broad imposing frame filled the General’s line of sight more and more. He hated to admit such a thing, but he was in trouble. If a frontal assault from a Super Saiyan as weathered as Brokka was not enough to suppress Broly, then no single pair of hands the galaxy over could. With no options remaining, the General scowled and threw caution to the wind. If he fell now, he did so in the knowledge that his actions were valorous, and any warrior could find pride in that. Yes, it had taken Broly the Legendary Super Saiyan himself to herald the end of the mighty General Brokka...

But suddenly, the Commander exploded and she engaged Broly in a direct assault. Brokka’s vision panned from his own attack for a second and honed in on Celeria. She seemed somewhat re-energised; perhaps his attempts to redirect Broly’s attention had given her the time necessary to collect her senses. An unassuming grin peaked on the General’s face, as he began to pull back his blast. As his hands dulled and his energy settled, Brokka watched Celeria unleash her Final Flash technique, which successfully repelled Broly several metres from the cliff face. Her power had returned and thus the act of saving her had paid off.

Suddenly, Brokka fell to one knee is exhaustion. His breath escaped him momentarily, and his lungs clambered to fill with air. Celeria landed alongside the General and took his arm over her shoulder, lifting him into an upright position. The immediate impulse was to reject her constant fussing, yet he found himself unable to move a muscle.

"Don't let him break our formation. Glory is of no use to the dead, General. If we are to survive this, we must fight side by side at all costs." She uttered, all the while her vision tracking Broly’s movement.

Brokka finally exhaled, and his legs began to regain their bearings. “Don’t be absurd.” He spat. “I’m not one of your grunts and I don’t need the lecture; I never helped you for glory, such a thing means nothing to a leader. I helped you because the only chance of survival each of us has rests in the other’s hands.” Finally, the General pushed himself free of Celeria, and he felt each of his individual muscles contracting in exhaustion. His last little stunt had cost him a lot of energy, but he wasn’t spent yet. He too had been bought some time, and now like a true warrior he felt he could centre all of his senses on a single goal.

The General looked at the damned unhinged freak emerging from the dust and brimstone. He watched the malignant grin on the overpowered bastard’s face as his aluminous green energy carried him back to the battlefield. This product of the Saiyan race, no matter how powerful, was wrong. He was as wrong as Turles and the Tree of Might, and he represented the very same folly. Nobody, no matter how gifted or desperate should possess power without limit. And they should never be given such vast abilities without having to work for each and every one of them. Broly’s face reminded the General of everything he had previously strived for, and lingering on those desires caused fire to burn in Brokka’s core. Suddenly, the exhaustion that had plagued the fighter began to peel away. His own emotions, so raw and undressed, resurrected his energy in startling waves.

Instantly, the golden flames of Brokka’s Super Saiyan aura were alive once again, and his muscles swelled like grapefruits under pressure. He clenched both of his fists until blood ran through the gaps in his fingers, trickling onto the rocks and bubbling instantly in the heat. Then he scowled, his expression mirroring the poise of his enemy.

“For one-hundred and forty years I have fought tooth and nail for every scrap of power I have.” He scoffed. I was in the congregation when King Vegeta himself united the Saiyan clans into a single instrument of war. I led my people against the Tuffle war machine for years, and I was there bathing in our enemies blood on the glorious day the Tuffle capital fell to our banner.” With a clenched fist, Brokka beat at his chest at every mention of himself. “I watched my own brothers, sisters, sons and daughters fall in battle, each of them cut down before my feet, and yet I still kept fighting! I commanded hundreds and thousands of men under Freeza’s directive, conquering and subduing vast civilisations and empires as if they were nothing! I survived the final day of my world and its people, and I crippled anybody who would stand in my way! I discovered a source of energy so vast that it could turn an impudent grunt into a mighty warrior, and I spat in its face because MY power was greater!” Finally, the General outstretched both of his fists until his chest was bare. The tatters of his cape, and his golden forks of hair billowed wildly in the blistering hot winds. “All of this I did ALONE, and with my own two hands.” His fist collided with an open palm, and instantly he glowered. “But not you... YOU disgust me! Your strength is unnatural and perverse. You’ve got no idea what it feels like to fight for your every breath; to fall to your knees time and time again, only to have to climb back up and force yourself to become stronger and stronger. You are a FREAK, and every second you exist is an affront to me. So, Legendary Super Saiyan, meet the ULTIMATE warrior!”

Without hesitation, the Super Saiyan bound into the air at speeds he’d not thought himself capable of. Then, when face to face with his opponent he drove his forehead directly into Broly’s own. The pressure of the collision caused a sonic explosion, and the rocks surrounding the volcanoes split and fractured. Broly fell back ever so slightly in discomfort, and the General quickly followed up the attack with a stream of Kienzan disks. Suddenly, searing red hot razors of ki assaulted the Legendary Super Saiyan. Although each bounded off his muscular frame and redirected elsewhere, they were successful at causing superficial damage to Broly’s skin. As the enemy pushed the disks away with a jolt of his green ki, Brokka engaged Broly with new found strength. Blow for blow the General met the monster in combat. A punch to the gut had Broly briefly recoiling, and a series of swift kicks to several ligaments caused the Legendary Super Saiyan to lose his footing. As Broly spiralled through the air like a ragdoll, Brokka suddenly extended two fingers and grinned. He let go his Exploding Wave technique, and suddenly the molten world was ablaze. A full square mile lit up like a candle in pitch blackness, and various volcanoes spewed their loins, as piping hot magma drenched the horizon. As Broly roared in aggravation in the ensuing blast, Brokka scanned the area for Celeria.

“With me, quickly!” He yelled to her. Now was the time for a dual assault.

Celeria stared at Brokka, eyes widened with disbelief. General Brokka, the renowned military strategist was actually wasting time stroking his own ego. Although Celeria could not help but feel moved by his story, maybe more than she would bear to admit, considering it confirmed many of her positive assumptions about him, she was utterly appalled by the fact that he would sacrifice so much time for this pointless tirade. Broly was mad - what did he care about his history, or hers, or any of the beings he had already killed?

"And you say you're not in it for glory." - she spat through gritted teeth as her blood burned like liquid fire.

The Commander clenched her fists in anger as the General foolishly engaged Broly on his own, contradicting all the plans they had made so far only to seemingly prove himself to a non-existant judge. For a moment, Celeria considered leaving him to Broly until he saw reason. But this was not the time to impart brutal wisdom. It was not just about the two of them - the lives of Kale, Cayenna and the others depended on their cooperation. Their cooperation, damn it all!

The thought of standing next to this self-serving fool made her insides want to wretch as she erupted in a violent aura of golden ki and blasted off the ground to rejoin Brokka in the air. She scrutinized him ruthlessly with her piercing emerald eyes, as her clenched fist begged her to lodge it deep into Brokka's face. But instead, she made herself divert his gaze to Broly.

"Fire everything you've got. I will hold him down."

Celeria focused her eyes on Broly and thrust her arms forward, as if she were to fire a ki blast, but instead, Broly stopped moving completely and appeared to be struggling in mid-air as Celeria bore her teeth and a drop of sweat trickled down her face. She was using her advanced telekinetic abilities to hold Broly in place.

"DO IT NOW!" - she thundered, every nerve in her body electrified with focus fueled by sheer willpower.

Kale fiddled with his scouter frantically as he attempted to procure the exact coordinates to the black hole at the edge of the system. In the distance, the Doctor could see a battle of desperation, as Celeria and Brokka enthused with Super Saiyan might engaged Broly in a frivolous struggle. He’d never thought it possible, first he’d had his eye wiped by being proven wrong about the existence of a Super Saiyan, and now it turned out there was an even more formidable entity. It seemed that logic and reasoning was no longer the law of the day, and whilst Kale wanted to slap himself repeatedly to wake from this nightmare, he knew there was only one way out.

“...Doctor...” He heard Keyla’s voice distinctly emerge from the crowd.

“Gimme two minutes! I’m just extrapolating all the necessary data.” He responded curtly.

“Do you care about her?” She responded, her tone more melancholy than it was inquisitive.

The Doctor stopped his calculations abruptly and turned to face the nurse. “Of course I do, we all care about her. She’s our Commander, after all.” He shrugged, confused by the line of inquiry.

“No...” Keyla rolled her eyes. “Do you care for her?” She slowly moved towards Kale, who was now utterly flabbergasted.

The Doctor continued the calculations on his scouter and shook his head. All of that was water under the bridge. The feelings he’d housed for Celeria were a product of the past, when he’d thought somewhat naively that something more could be made of their impossible predicament. He’d been proven wrong, again, and he didn’t like being wrong.

“Well...?” Keyla urged.

He shook his head. “Not like that, not anymore.” He lied.

After all, what could he say? There was no strength to be found in his affections for the Commander, it was all simply counterproductive. Here they were, each of them, fulfilling their roles. She was the leader and he was the Doctor. Never the twain could meet, never again at least. He frowned lightly, concealing it as he cracked on with his calculations. As he panned his eyes to Cayenna and Chardok, he saw the two preparing for a brawl with Broly. He sighed, wondering just how he’d manage to keep those two alive if they jumped in head first.

After a further few minutes, Kale finally completed the mathematics. He had the coordinates, at last! He jumped up and down briefly in exhilaration, and clenched both of his fits, stopping only at the sight of Magma judging him from the corner of his eye. The Doctor stopped his dancing and activated the com-network to Celeria.

“Commander, I’ve got a plan. I must point out, it’s in its alpha stage-“ Suddenly the link went dead, and his ear filled with fizzling static. Damn it! Her scouter must have been destroyed in battle. The Doctor gritted his teeth in frustration and looked towards the remainder of the group.

“We’re gonna have to move out. Cayenna, Chardok, you’re with me for cover. We’re not going in there to engage the enemy, do you understand me?” He never gave Cayenna a chance to bite back, although he could see she was itching to. “We’re going to relay the plan to the Commander and the General, but if we come under fire you know the drill.”

Kale quickly turned to the scene of the battle and witnessed a large decimating explosion. The sky suddenly came alive with pure white light, and as the glow dimmed the Doctor’s retinas were stained with an afterimage. That’s what he had to contend with now, how in hell was he going to survive? Just before he could take off, he heard Keyla’s incessant voice again, this time she sounded even more desperate for answers.

“Kale...” There was a tremble in her tone.

“You know it makes me panic when you call me-“ As he turned to answer Keyla’s call he was instantly disarmed. Suddenly, the nurse was on him, her hands wrapping around his face as she pressed her lips against his. He couldn’t move, for a second he was sure he had succumbed to paralysis. What was going on? Then it all suddenly dawned on him, and he realised Keyla was kissing him! But as the moment dragged on, the Doctor found himself resisting less and less, and his initial shock turned to something else entirely. He, like never before, melted at her touch and instantly the chaos of Broly and his havoc muffled and became like a distant dream.

Eventually, Keyla pulled away and stroked the corner of Kale’s eyes with her thumbs. All the while she peered into him, and a smile swept along her face for the first time since they’d arrived on the planet. Kale’s eyes twitched and he raised his hands to cover Keyla’s softly. He was at a loss for words; he wasn’t even sure how he should react.

“...Does that mean...” He eventually stuttered.

“That’s exactly what that means.” Keyla leaned in again, the passion of the moment making her eyes flare as she laid another on him. Again the Doctor melted, he could quite believe what was happening but he wasn’t willing to resist it. He’d never considered this, not once, and yet everything suddenly fit into place. “Come back to me Kale, please. You can’t die out there; you don’t get to die out there.” She stroked his face. Her eyes met his for an eternity, until he finally summed up the courage to step away.

As the Doctor looked at the bystanders he saw they’d all fallen silent. Even Magma had nothing to jest about this time. Finally, they’d all shut up! Suddenly, a small smile appeared on his face, and he stuttered a response.

“I-I have to go.” He blasted off into the sky; his speed was unrivalled as he felt lighter than ever before. The Doctor had no idea why Keyla had done what she’d done, but it didn’t matter, all that mattered in that moment was the two of them.

“Saiyans and their mating rituals, I shall never understand...” Magma said, in the distance.

Broly hung suspended in the air by the merest of techniques. He couldn’t move a single mammoth muscle for trying. He was trapped in some kind of telekinetic field by no other than his own mother. How long had she been waiting to finish the job she had started all that time ago on Planet Vegeta? Here she was, trying to kill him; trying to bury him on this volcanic world so that she and Brokka could wipe her previous life from existence. But, Broly knew she was a fool, as was the General. He was the Legendary Super Saiyan, his powers were unrivalled across the universe, and it was only a matter of time before he was free, and Brokka and his mother were dead.

The maniac let loose a sinister grin and he erupted into a maddening fit of laughter. As his mother held him in place, constricting his muscles, he continued he howl in amusement. Nothing could stop him; these mere ants couldn’t even inflict damage on him if they tried. They were nothing compared to him, and soon they would languish in a pool of their own blood, and their flesh would melt from their bones.

“So eager for my full arsenal, Commander? So be it.” The weakling General boasted. Broly simply looked him dead in his aged eyes and chortled.

Suddenly, the General’s hands lit up like scorching red irons, and rivers of ki emerged from his fingertips. The energy collided with Broly’s flesh like magnets on steel, but the Legendary Super Saiyan absorbed the full brunt of the attack into his incredible muscle mass. Time was passing now, and he was growing even stronger and stronger. He doubted they could even scratch him now, that’s how formidable he was becoming.

“I am a god, and you are ants below my boot!” He laughed manically, no longer resisting the telekinesis, instead biding his time for his energy to transcend all limits.

Kale rushed towards the battle, suddenly his panorama filled with the most unlikely of scenes. Celeria was somehow suspending Broly with her telekinetic abilities, and Brokka was giving the monster his all with an onslaught of ki. Kale shook his head at the sight. The both of them working together, this wasn’t anything he ever could have considered in the past. But there was no time for this now...

“Commander, a plan, I’ve got one. You’re gonna wanna hear this!” He covered his eyes from the glare of the General’s incredible attack.

Celeria's stomach sank and her nerves threatened to explode at the last sensation the Commander expected right now - the sound of the doctor's voice. Her eyes widened in surprise and borderline incredulity at what she was hearing. She attempted to say something but her throat instantly tightened and she swallowed hard to allow the words through.

"What... are you... DOING HERE, KALE?!" - she cried out.

"Retreat! At once!" - she urged, her voice rasping with immediacy.

Meanwhile, Brokka poured everything he could into his onslaught. Initially, he had been imbued with a newfound confidence as Broly appeared to wane under the force of his attacks. But now, the mad bastard chortled maniacally and prattled on like a berserked buffoon. And, no matter how much the General pumped into his attack, nothing was damaging the freak. Brokka scoffed and his face transformed with rage. This was not a game! This fool had no place treating the battlefield like a child’s playground. Brokka’s energy soared for a final time, and his golden aura trundled around him wildly. He couldn’t hold this for long; he’d have to come up with an alternate plan immediately.

Suddenly, as the General looked to his side, he saw Cayenna and Chardok approach. And, to make matters infinitely worse, they appeared to be in the employ of the idiot Doctor. Brokka sneered.

“Why is this fool here interrupting us?” He glared at Celeria.

“Leave before I hollow out your corpse.” He glowered at Kale, before extending the menace to his own soldiers.

Kale scrutinised the Commander’s face. She wasn’t happy to see him, not one bit. He nearly recoiled at her tone. It wasn’t angry, per se; it was desperate. He’d never seen her this way, even when Freeza had been at their front door. The Doctor gulped, and briefly glanced at the General as he issued one of his signature threats. Kale obviously wasn’t a sight for sore eyes, but hardly any of that mattered.

“I’m going nowhere, not this time.” The Doctor fired back a glare at Brokka, he simply jeered silently. “Commander, I’m sorry but this plan could save us all.”

In that moment, Broly cried out in laughter and Kale found his skin tingling in revulsion. He quickly shook his head to expel the monster’s overwhelming presence and continued.

“There’s a black hole at the edge of the system.” He said in a hushed tone, so that the crazed Broly couldn’t hear. “I’ve got the coordinates here.” He pointed to his scouter. I tried to forward them to you over comm, but the signal was down. I had to-“

“Silence him before I do.” Brokka suddenly interjected, his tone more akin to a roar as his rage quickly accelerated.

Celeria could not believe what she was hearing. The three of them were actually planning to assault Broly. The three of them. Brokka and Celeria, two of the finest warriors the saiyan race had ever birthed were giving life and limb, failing to even bruise this legendary monster and those three were intending to confront him.

"Naive, ignorant FOOLS!" - she yelled out.

"ONE HIT! If he lands ONE HIT on you, you are HISTORY. Dead, o.b.l.i.te.r.a.t.e.d. - DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME?!"

"In case you two haven't noticed, if we don't do something, we're ALL dead!" - Cayenna interjected, yelling at the top of her lungs, her frustration building as she clenched her fists tightly.

"SILENCE!" - Celeria screamed out as the capillaries in her eyes burst open and a few drops of blood trickled down her nostrils. Maintaining her hold on Broly had become a nearly impossible feat, straining her every nerve to the limit. But she had to keep her hold, she HAD TO. A growl rumbled at the back of her throat as she began to cry out, undertones of anguish weighing down her voice.

"I did NOT make my sacrifice for you to die, doctor. I gave my pride and honor, I gave my LIFE to preserve you and you would throw it in my face!"

Her vision became blurry as her eyes began to water, tiny streams of tears trailing down her cheeks as her desperation mounted. She felt like her insides were being crushed both from the godlike focus she was putting out and her inner tumult clawing gashes in her mind.

"Brokka, I cannot hold him! I'm slipping! Get them out of here! Go! Now! I beg you!"

The breath instantly jammed in Kale’s throat. He couldn’t believe it, Commander Celeria was breaking. She was a bulwark of strength, but now before his eyes she was baring everything. His gaze rested on her for a moment, and he saw the strong silhouette of a warrior fade behind a blanket of anguish. She was suffering here; Broly had really done one over on her. He was a monster; his power was crippling and impossible all in the same breath. But that didn’t mean Kale should retreat, on the contrary, he had to help. He wasn’t strong enough, damn it he couldn’t even lay a finger on Broly, but he had something nobody else did: his mind. He was going to regret this, but Celeria wasn’t going to respond to a simple plea...

“DAMN IT! LISTEN TO ME.” He yelled through clenched teeth. “I DON’T give you permission to give YOUR life for ME! And I NEVER will. So just LISTEN, for ONE second!” He raised his finger and lowered his head, brushing his free hand through a tuft of his hair. “The black hole is the only thing that can stop Broly. We need to blast him into the event horizon, and we need to do it now. I have the coordinates; I just need to direct your fire. Only you and...” Kale apprehensively signalled with his head towards the damned General, “...General Brokka have the power to execute this.”

Brokka, unable to brunt the attack any longer, lowered one of his hands, reducing the power of his blast in half. He glared into the Doctor momentarily, and then looked directly at a visibly shaken Celeria. She was sentimental about this weakling fool, and it was causing her to lose her hold over the enemy. The General hissed in aggravation, but as the Doctor spoke, the plan resonated with Brokka. This fool, although utterly defenseless and an insult to their species was on to something. The fact of the matter was, Brokka could not continue his assault, and the Commander was compromised with emotion. It would have to work.

“I would slay you where you stand if this situation were any different.” He growled. “But your plan may be feasible. I take no pride in making any concessions to a weakling such as you, but I see no other alternative.” Brokka clenched his free fist; his muscles began to contract as the flow of energy further diminished. “You will buy us time, all of you. I must gather my strength. Do you understand?” He barked.

"NO! What are you doing?! You will ALL DIE! You cannot risk your lives for a PROBABILITY! You are all MAD! I will NOT let you do this! DO YOU HEAR ME?! STAND. DOWN." - The pained Commander cried at the top of her lungs as her hands began to tremble, the tremor rippling through her until her whole body started to shake.

Kale could sense that Celeria’s grip over Broly was slipping.
Suddenly, he saw jitters in the monster’s movement, and then he began to move more freely. This was bad, this was very, very bad indeed. Suddenly, Kale turned to face Broly, and raising two hands he unleashed an attack that could buy them seconds.

“SOLAR FLARE!” A blinding ray of light suddenly sparked and ignited. The glare was so intense that it caused the Legendary Super Saiyan to briefly recoil, and he held his hands in front of his eyes to reduce the light’s intensity.

“I never thought I’d say this to you of all people, but thank you.” Kale nodded towards the General, acknowledging that man for anything at all was agonising, but he'd needed the consent of at least one of them. “There’s one more thing, I need your space pod.”

“Explain.” Brokka commanded.

“I need to use your ship as a beacon, so that I can guide the blast towards the exact coordinates. It has to be exact. Even if you were a metre out, that would translate as thousands of miles in space.” Kale sharply nodded before allowing his aura to explode around him.

“Commander... I’m so sorry.” Suddenly he blasted off towards Broly.

The General sharply nodded as the Doctor and his own entourage departed. He gave them less than a minute before they yielded below Broly’s might, and therefore he had to act quickly. From the corner of his eye, he saw the Commander’s desperation flare. There was no time for such nonsense, and he wouldn’t stand for it even from her. Reaching out with his arm, Brokka quickly took Celeria in a chokehold, forcing her into submission before she could pursue her Doctor.

The Commander felt as if her energy drained right out of her, sucking the air out of her lungs. As she coughed roughly, Brokka suddenly seized her in a full body lock, holding her tightly around the neck and waist. Her gaze went blank.

"NO!!!" - The Commander shrieked in horror as her hands reached out for Kale who was already flying out of sight.

“There’s no time for your sentimentality. You jeopardise us completely with your lack of control, do you understand that?!” Brokka shouted, pressing his chin by her ear as she exploded in fits of panic.

She could not make out the words Brokka was saying to her, she only picked up the distinct tones of his voice and their vibrations on her skin.

"STOP THIS! KALE, COME BACK! PLEASE!"- her hands kept grasping  for the empty air as she thrashed around, trying to tear herself loose.

“ENOUGH!” - Brokka commanded, his tone shrill in its own desperation.

The heat of his body had begun to seep under her skin and his scent flooded her nostrils, she felt as if she was drowning in his grip as she helplessly felt along his arms with her palms, her pressure faint and waning. In truth, she could barely keep her hands raised and within moments, her muscles finally gave way and her arms fell limply at her sides.

"No..." - she whispered as even her voice had left her.

Not uttering another word, Celeria's chest heaved with exhaustion and defeat.

“Enough...” - Brokka murmured quietly.

After a couple of seconds, the Commander fully subdued in his grasp. He felt her flesh overheating as it resonated with each beat of her heart, but as the moments passed, her attempts to escape pacified. Then, he lightly loosened his grip, and he felt Celeria slip from under him. But, she never attempted to pursue her underling; instead she channelled her desperation into rage and her power exploded. Brokka, finally feeling the pull of impending victory, grinned.

“Good.” He uttered. “Now let us end this.”

The General unleashed a mighty howl and the golden flames of his aura blazed. One minute, that’s all he predicted they’d have, no more. But, if he could accumulate the last of his ki into one definitive strike, then one minute would be all they would need.

PostSubject: Re: To Kill a Legend   Tue Apr 28, 2015 12:18 pm

Celeria heaved with bouts of passing delirium as she exerted her desire for Kale's return. Her voice, normally the pillar of authority and strength, oozed with uncertainty and a prevalent sense of fear as she fretted for the Doctor's return. Kale's heart pounded in his throat, and his mouth ran dry as he expelled all images and sounds of the Commander's desperation from his mind. He couldn't do this now, he couldn't watch her suffer, especially not because of him. His heart - or at least what was left of it after the day's events - was shivering, but the Doctor's actions were affirmed by the thought that if he didn't act now, then the Commander's plight would be tenfold. As if by some act of celestial mockery, all that stood between Broly and universal destruction was Kale. This must have been some godly being or two in another dimension that had prompted all of these actions to happen as a kind of warped joke, surely.

Kale blasted toward Broly who currently clutched at his singed retina. Behind him, flanking both of his sides, were Cayenna and Chardok. The bitter truth was they were too weak even as a united force to stand against Broly, but they only needed to buy time. Kale wasn’t a Super Saiyan, hell, he never would be. But, he was about to give the transformation a run for its money. He didn’t need golden hair and super strength to keep Broly at bay, he just needed his head. As the Doctor came within metres of his opponent, he suddenly jerked up, ascending rapidly into the air. Then looking down, Kale shouted at Broly, instantly drawing his attention.

“Yoohoo! I’m up here Broly.” His body trembled at the mere audacity his mind had to even challenge this legend. “How about you try me on for size, hmm big guy?” Kale mockingly crossed his arms.

Instantly, Broly roared until his voice sounded hoarse with a mixture of laughter and jeering. “What can a small man like you possibly gain from antagonising me?” The Legendary Super Saiyan’s face suddenly contorted with rage, and with an open palm, Broly fired a ball of his emerald ki.

Kale jerked backwards instantly, but it didn’t matter, the energy blast was never intended for him. The attack travelled with speed the Doctor couldn’t even register, and suddenly it was out of sight completely as it passed through the smog clouds and faded into the black sky. Kale raised an eyebrow in suspicion. Had Broly missed him accidentally? He looked back at his opponent in confusion, and watched as the monster openly wore a smug grin. Then, Kale looked to the sky again, and everything became clear. The closest moon in the sky suddenly illuminated in a green flash. And then, like some sort of optical effect, it shattered like glass.

With horror, Kale scowled. He’d decimated a moon just to make a point. And still, had Broly been less goading, those pieces of moon rock splurging across the vista of space would have been the Doctor’s flesh. He sharply shook his head, and with a single gesture indicated to Cayenna and Chardok that they disperse. They couldn’t stick together; otherwise they would become a larger target for Broly to play ‘shatter’ with. They needed to spread out; to distract the monster by acting as multiple moving targets. This was the only way any of them would survive to see another day.

“Broly 1, moon 0.” The Doctor muttered to himself, as he watched the monster erupt in another hurricane of laughter. “Man, he’s twisted...” He nodded to himself slowly, before disappearing into the black smog.

For the first time since she can remember, Cayenna didn't know what to do. This situation was so insane, so impossible that nothing made any sense. She looked at her sister and could not recognize the person staring back at her. Or rather, the person who desperately tried to wring herself away from the General's hold with what seemed to be the very last atoms of strength.

And she screamed. Celeria screamed.

In all her years and in all her missions both on and off-world, she had never heard Celeria scream. The alien sound of her resonating cries sent an uneasy chill down Cayenna's spine. Cayenna then involuntarily glanced at Brokka who actually looked at Celeria with intense, unwavering eyes. He didn't threaten nor forcibly restrain her into submission - it looked more like he was actually cradling her. The young private couldn't help but feel that both the General and her sister had gone completely mad.

Cayenna then looked at Kale. As much as Celeria's cries unnerved her, the doctor looked almost physically pained by it. Or, he was shitting himself. Or both.

Cayenna then looked onward to Broly, the impossible monster who had crushed the minds and bodies of her superior officers.

"Man, I wanna deck him right in that smug bitch face." - she grunted under get breath. Sure, she didn't know what was going on but she was sure a hard enough punch through Broly's skull would solve all of their problems. And she couldn't deliver it, not in her wildest dreams. Shit. She would try.

"Stay focused. I need you to get the pod." - The doctor told her in a surprisingly commanding tone. Now, Cayenna had heard everything.

"Just what makes you think you're-"

"JUST GET THE DAMN POD, CAYENNA!" - The formerly wussy doctor glared at her with all the ferocity of a seasoned commanding officer.

"GAH, SHIT! You better not die, Char, or Brokka will tear us a new one!" It took all her willpower to tear herself away from her direct assault trajectory and blast away from the battlefield. She exploded in a torrent of ki, her residual energy tearing into the ground below as she cut across the planet surface in a frantic dash to their landing site.

Halfway there, she witnessed a thundering explosion. A neighboring moon had just been leveled. A fucking moon. Shit, shit, shit. - she thought to herself as she spotted the pods in the distance. The General's pod was the central one, and she didn't waste a second and instead propelled herself directly into it, reigning in her momentum and somersaulting into a crouched position and into the pod. Her hands instantly came down upon the console as she punched in the coordinates.

"Go, go, GO!" - she screamed at the console which had already initiated the takeoff procedure. But while she was playing fetch, that beast was destroying neighboring planets. Cayenna did her best to shut off her mind for the coming few seconds because she couldn't shake off the mental image of bringing the pod to a bunch of mangled corpses.

And Celeria screamed.

Straining to execute a narrow turn in mid air, Chardok thought to himself "Well, well, looks like Cayenna's sister is a Saiyan after all. Man, I wish I was in her squad. At least they get to do something other than pick up after Brokka. We haven't had a serious scrap ever since that old fart tok over."

All around him, as far as the eye could see, was only devastation and ground turned into glass by the horrible amounts of energy. The skies burned with flashing streams as debris from the destroyed moon burned away in the planet's atmosphere. As he soared through the rapidly overheating air, dodging chunks of the former moon, Chardok frantically searched for any sign of cover.

"Wherever I go, that freak can pop me like a bug under a rock. Hmm... Rock? That's a fine idea, Seargent Chardok" he said in a mockery of General Brokka's voice. "Or, rather, Lieutenant Chardok?"

"HEY, CA-" His shout got lost in the roar of the pod's engine. "Damn! Once again, no one to share my genius with. Whatever, let's do this!" he said to himself, flying higher and higher. After discarding a few smaller chunks of the obliterated moon, Chardok set his eyes on a sizeable rock, easily the width of King Vegeta's castle.

With a grunt, Chardok set himself behind the rock and channeled all his ki into the palms of his hands and pushed. "NNNNGNGNGNGHHH!!!" The huge rock slowly started to turn, it's front end burning against the thickening air. It seemed like forever but Chardok finally managed to divert it's trajectory towards Broly. Blowing on his smoking fingers, he peeked from behind the rock to see the towering monstrosity still laughing at the Doctor.

"Bite on this, retard!" he said, not loud enough for anyone to hear. He planted his feet firmly against the rock and jumped away with a powerful kick, sending the enormous projectile hurtling even faster straight towards Broly.

Chardok chuckled to himself as he flew away from the rock, taking care to keep it between himself and Broly while he searched for the next chunk of the moon.

These fools were only delaying the inevitable. Soon they would all perish, regardless of their attempts to postpone Broly’s mayhem. These beings were feeble, all of them. Even his mother, whom he had always adored as a bastion of strength and hope was little more than as an insect was to a giant. The Legendary Super Saiyan scored all previous thoughts he had had regarding his treacherous and deceitful mother, and instead he embraced wholeheartedly all intentions to cause her pain. Yes, unlike the others – the archaic General included – his mother would feel pain of the heart before she felt agony of the flesh.

Out of their little ant holes, more of the tiny peasants emerged. This time they were led by a gangly black haired figure who resembled an entree more than he did a living warrior. What’s more, the emergence of this maggot caused a staring in Broly’s mother, as if she had been ripped free of her lover, or even her child. The hatred contained within Broly exploded in torrents of rage at this sight. His white-glazed eyes widened like gorges as hate-filled laughter bellowed from his jowls. How dare she mourn this bug when she had cast Broly aside as if he were the filth below her boot! How dare she give her affection to another, knowing exactly the crimes she had committed against him and his father! This fool; this maggot belonging to her would have to suffer, if only to intensify his mother’s anguish.

As Broly entertained the little worm, he decided that it would be best to give him a demonstration of his might before he squashed him. With little to no effort, the Legendary Super Saiyan’s manic laughter spawned a single ki blast that skimmed the worm’s chest. Instantly, the power and momentum of the small, aluminous green blast intensified, until it ripped through the planetary atmosphere and tore the closest moon into a million pieces. Space debris suddenly rained down upon them all, and the sky began to dampen into sheets of crimson, as moon chunks tore through the stratosphere gushing with flames.

Soon, the little maggot disappeared into the volcanic smog, but Broly could still sense him. There was no escape; there could never be an escape. As the Legendary Super Saiyan ascended into the smoke with his senses stretching out, he felt a rock melt against his flesh like a minuscule pellet. He snickered; he had no concern for such pathetic attacks and all those that executed them. To deal with this dismal insurgence, Broly lifted a single finger and unleashed a flurry of ki waves into the mouth of a nearby volcano. Suddenly, a torrential mass of liquid rock spouted from the volcano and began surging towards the canyons below. Whoever was attempting to draw his attention would soon be forced to show themselves, it was just a matter of mere seconds before the lava would prod them into open view.

It was just an instance before Broly heard the voice of the maggot once again. This time it spoke of a pod, no doubt as a means of escape. Nobody was permitted to leave, not until they were an ensemble of bones! Instantly, the Legendary Super Saiyan found his prey lurking in the dust and he pursued him playfully. His laughter quickly malformed until it was an unrecognisable sound in-between amusement and jeering.

“You seek to confuse me, maggot?!” His energy soared as he taunted the worm.

“Ah crap!” his prey yelped, before fleeing into the sky above. “Listen to me Broly!” He shouted above the sound of wind cutting through his voice. “You’re not yourself, just look at what you’ve done. Why would you attack us – what have we done to you, huh?!”

Broly instantly disappeared from the worm’s view and materialised in front of him like a bulwark of stone. The maggot came to a crashing halt; his face wore fear and panic freely. How different he was to the other warriors, much more meek and placid.

“Your words are empty, worm.” Broly’s lips thinned as a smile carved his face. “Only a coward would try to avoid combat with words. Your flesh will pay the ultimate price for your spinelessness.”

“No. Don’t be absurd.” The maggot placed a flat palm out in front of him. “There’s no point in fighting you, your power is too extreme, not even you can subdue it.” The worm appeared to tremor as he attempted to talk Broly down. “Don’t you think this is what your father wanted? All those years, using you; manipulating you and your abilities to achieve his ends. Paragus was resentful because King Vegeta left him for dead. not you, can’t you see that? If his concern was for you, then why did he have you fitted with a control device, huh?”

Broly bore his teeth until they protruded over his lip. This maggot was senseless, paralytic with fear even! His words were empty, nothing but lies to distract the Saiyan from his goal of retribution. This would fail. With startling speed, Broly gripped the worm by his fragile neck and lifted him above his head. As the Legendary Super Saiyan looked up at the weakling, he could see beads of sweat streaming off his skin. The fear was palpable, intoxicating even.

“First I will boil you in the lava, and then I will feast on the tattered remains...” Broly spat through grinding teeth.

“Oh boy, i-if I had a p-penny for every time somebody grabbed me b-by the throat...” The worm struggled to free himself. “W-Why would Celeria, your mother, try to k-kill you? It wasn’t her that tried to control you, B-Broly, it was Paragus. You had fond memories of her, you remembered h-how she helped you. What changed in s-such a s-short amount of time?” The weakling choked and spat, he was beginning to weaken. “It was your father that decided that C-Celeria and Brokka were your e-enemies, not you. Do you remember screaming Broly, d-do you? D-Do you remember resisting the control?!” As Broly tightened his grip around the maggot’s gullet, he spewed a haze of blood. The warm, crimson liquid spread across the Legendary Super Saiyan’s face, and he extended his tongue to absorb the rest.

“LIES! You will die and she will suffer. And then they will both burn. First the General, for corrupting mother, and then mother herself.”

“B-Broly...” There was little life infused in this pathetic sack of bones now. “Paragus is gone now, he can’t control y-you any...more...” The worm became limp, his energy collapsing completely.

Broly’s white irises expanded at the maggot’s words. Gone? In what sense? His father had been his protector, had his mother finally killed him as she had always plotted to? This was the doing of the General, he would break and be reduced to dust! His rage ignited, and his green aura seeped out of his muscular frame and trundled like a storm.

“Father IS GONE!? Then maybe I was wrong. Maybe I don’t let mother see you suffer; maybe I shatter mother and watch as you beg as her life is extinguished...” Broly’s nose crinkled as he grimaced, and his voice slithered with menace. “Now you will watch as my beloved mother is chewed up into pulp...”

Suddenly, the limp worm came to life. His previous state of defeat seemed utterly reversed for an instant, as his own energy exploded like an unleashed ocean dam. The weaklings placated expression morphed until it was a recognisable rage, and soon his transparent aura began to ignite with strands of golden embers.

“YOU WON’T TOUCH HER!!” The maggot’s hair began to lift and wave, and his black irises were drowned by the white of his eyes. “She tried to stop the control!” The worm pried his neck free of Broly’s grip. “She tried to help you, you bastard! And this is how you repay her!? WITH BLINDNESS!? WAKE UP!?” The weaklings aura now flooded with more and more flames of gold until he was on the brink of transformation. But, with a frown, the Legendary Super Saiyan backhanded his foe, and he instantly subdued into unconsciousness, cascading to the ground below.

These words of his, what did they mean? Why did he still persist with the lie? His mother had left Broly and Paragus for dead, and the General, the bastard General had been the catalyst of all of it. That was the truth, it had to be! His father had never lied to him; never controlled him. Broly was more free now than he’d ever been, wasn’t he? Suddenly, a shrill pang of doubt travelled the length of the Saiyans mind and body. But had he always been in control – was he always the one calling the shots? Sometimes it felt as if he was coasting, like he wasn’t really there. And his memories, they became harder and harder to retrieve, as if a vacuum was absorbing them, and him, in the process. That maggot was nothing but a fool, a weak festering idiot! He knew nothing; stood for nothing! He was a liar... or... was he?

As the Commander's energy mounted, encircling her like a radiant maelstrom, what she beheld threatened to send her towering focus crashing to the blackened soil beneath her feet. As the viridian orb brushed past the doctor, Celeria felt her heart gripped ferociously. As Broly snatched him by the throat, the grip tightened, her chest aching with sharp pains that filled her every breath with agony. Her muscles began to contract involuntarily, every inch of her being urging her to protect the locus of all of her intent. The Commander bore her fangs, her breathing quick and heavy as the tremor spread to her clenched fists.

Broly had begun to spew more sinister threats aimed at her. Celeria scoffed, her frown etching deeply into her already grave expression. And then Kale screamed out, bathed in golden embers. He was on the brink. Celeria's eyes widened as all the potential she knew existed within the doctor began to manifest itself. In that moment, she could breathe again.

However, in the very next moment, her breath was completely taken away. Broly had backhanded Kale mid-transformation, sending him crashing into the rivers of lava below. Her lids flew open and her jaw fell agape as all the air seemed sapped from her lungs. Her features contorted into ruthless determination as she primed to strike. But she couldn't.

With godlike restraint, the Commander stayed herself as she obseved the doctor's unconscious descent into oblivion. This was his call, his plan, their only chance of survival. And there was a warrior beside her, one who had given his all to deliver them from this menace. As tears streamed down her face, burning with determination, her gaze instinctively sought Brokka, while her mind resigned to the realization that she wouldn't forfeit more saiyan lives to her own weakness. What was more, she would not dishonor Kale's sacrifice. She would see his plan through, even if it meant her life. The Commander directed a curt nod in the General's direction as she closed her eyes, the features of Kale's unconscious expression awaiting her behind closed eyelids.

“A Saiyan warrior… Commander Celeria of the Saiyan race.”

“Now there’s good news, and there’s bad news…”

"the good news is that you’re alive commander,”
“the bad news is that we’ve ate all the bagels…”

“Commander.”

“It was a terrible mistake, my terrible mistake. I’ll live with that and hold myself to judgement, don’t worry."

"You're not failing, because we're gonna win. Don't ask me how, but because of you, because of what you've done for us... what you've taught me..." He clasped her hand with greater force, "...we're going to get through this Commander, take my word for it."

"YOU WON'T TOUCH HER!"

"I cannot be what you seek. I can, however, protect you and children born unto you until the end of my days. This I promise you... Kale."

“Actions speak louder than words, Commander.”

Her eyes flew open as she screamed out a primal roar of a mortally wounded animal, her energy erupting into an inferno, splintering the earth below.

Like a boneless mesh, Kale plunged into the crimson-glowing magmatic loins of the world. Broly’s simple assault had all but destroyed the Doctor. And with his momentary cyclone of energy now receded back deep within, and his body shattered, he was utterly powerless to resist oblivion. As the seconds mounted, and his sallow face fell into the winds, Kale existed on the periphery of consciousness, somewhat aware of him impending doom. So, this was how it ended. He’d outlived his entire race, and climbed out of the clutches of tyrant after tyrant, and all of it in aid of this moment; to put an end to the universe’s ultimate threat. He was alright with it, he supposed. Granted, he would rather have died somewhere temperate, and with a garden too... He’d always wanted to have a garden, whatever they were...

The growing momentum of his ragdoll form suddenly faltered, and his flailing limbs came to a halt. He wasn’t falling anymore; he was suspended in thin air. It was Celeria! She’d stopped his descent after all, even though he’d given her stringent advice not to follow him into the throes of hell. Suddenly, the Doctor felt his body ascending, and the wind now rested in pockets at his back. He was disoriented, and his mind performed summersaults in confusion. But, as he felt himself gripped by the sturdy hand of protection, he managed to peel open his glazed eyes.

In a blur, the figure of a well defined female bombarded Kale’s vision. For a moment his head swooned from side to side as he tried to register his saviour. He blinked; pausing for an instant with his lids closed, and released a half-smile. Damn her, she never failed to follow through with her word, even when it worked as a detriment to her. The Commander, what a headcase, what a bloody brilliant headcase indeed! The Doctor’s lids peeled open again, and this time his onyx irises fought to focus.

“Commander, I...” He spluttered, his cracked and pierced lips struggling to rap around words.

Then, the revelation hit. No, not Commander Celeria at all! His focus instantly settled on a face, and he saw the familiar dark river of hair and rounded expressions of no other than Keyla!

“...Keyla.” He mumbled, his speech regaining its grip on words.

“You’re crazy, Kale.” She said with a half-hush. “Absolutely crazy.” Keyla shook her head. “Going up against that... monster. I nearly lost you, and I told you, that’s not an option. You don’t get to die, Kale, you hear me?” She tilted her head.

Instead of arguing - which would have taken a significant portion of his remaining might - Kale simply nodded. He was doing as he was told, just this once. His grin returned, momentarily, that’s at least before the next stage of the plan rung like a siren in his mind.

The Doctor’s eyes immediately widened with despair. The pod, he needed to get to the pod! Without him guiding the exact trajectory of the coming blast, there would never be respite from the destruction. He scrambled for his words, and struggled to lift his hand to grasp at Keyla’s sleek chin.

“The pod, get me to the pod. Cayenna should have returned by now...” He breathed heavily, his lungs expanding two-fold in a frantic attempt to retain consciousness.

“You haven’t got the strength to do it Kale, I’ll do it.” Keyla uttered with stern intent.

“NO!” His voice was hoarse but still commanding. “This was my scheme and mine alone. I won’t put your life on the line because of my machinations. Do you understand me?” His energy momentarily returned as his resolve flared.

“You’ll die!” She peered down past his eyes and into the Doctor himself. The agony carried by her words was spellbinding.

“Maybe...” He uttered. “But at least you won’t.” His gaze remained with hers for a time, until they arrived at the pod.

The vessel suddenly hissed, and the oval door creaked open. Then, Cayenna emerged from the pod, her face awash with irritation and even desperation.

“Come on, dammit! Hurry up or we’re all dead!” Exclaimed the Lieutenant, as she reached for the Doctor’s limp body from Keyla and threw him in the small cockpit like some kind of doll. “All our butts are on the line, so... fly straight and true Doctor.”

With the remainder of his strength, Kale peeled his neck backwards and looked the Lieutenant in the face. Then, with a cheeky smile he winked. This soldier was his type of girl, and grunt or gallant warrior, he’d see her on the other side. Cayenna quickly departed, leaving with the parting gift of smooching noises, immediately followed by a mock wretch, Kale lightly chortled as he looked at Keyla. Cayenna was off, no doubt, to find Chardok, who had since been MIA after the volcanic eruption. But the Doctor could feel his energy signature, he was still alive.

“You know what to do...” Keyla knelt by the pod until she was at eye level with the Doctor.

“Don’t I always?” His voice croaked, tenderly.

“...Okay, don’t ruin the moment.” Keyla reached out playfully and jabbed the Doctor in the arm. It stung, and Kale bit down on his lower lip. She was stronger than he imagined.

“Broly’s going to surrender... He can’t fight on.” The Doctor searched for Keyla’s gaze.

“What!? What do you mean, what did you do?” She clambered for a response, her mouth opening slightly at the seams.

“I just spoke to him.” Kale lightly closed his eyes as he spoke. “That’s it, just words, no tricks. Imagine that, huh? A battle of this scale won by words... There’s a first time for everything.” He giggled, but his ribcage contracted with pain.

“Only you...” Keyla trailed off, with a slight smile. And then, slowly leaning in, with her passion worn as openly as her armour, the nurse embraced the Doctor in a long kiss. “I love you.” She finally said, brushing her palm against his battered face before retracting from the pod.

“I know.” Kale finally concluded, as the pod clammed shut.

"Ow! Hot! Ow! OWOWOWOW!!! DAMN!" As the rugged surface of the boulder Chardok had hidden behind got searing hot, he glanced about seeking an escape from the conflagration.

"That guy sure can make people lose it. Hell, he even managed to piss a volcano off!"

At his heart, Chardok knew he and his bunch were woefully overmatched. Darting left and right, up and down, narrowly avoiding molten lava and volcanic rocks, Chardok felt utterly clueless.

"If the high-ups can't even scratch him, what good can we grunts do? We're not even decent ki fodder! We can't even escape, that guy is ridiculously fast!"

Chardok realised he'd never felt so utterly useless. And being Brokka's grunt, that means something.

"Why does he even keep us around? If only he trained us harder, gave us anything but the basest missions to perform, we would be of use. Well, this Saiyan is not giving up without a good rumble. Even if I can't scratch that glowing idiot, I can be a nasty pebble in his shoe, a flea up his mane, I can nag and bother him like a gnat. Here comes Chardok to mess up your life!"

With a frown, Chardok launched his stocky body through the smoke and grit, weaving this way and that between rocks and molten lava flung high into the atmosphere by the very much awakened volcano. "Now where did that dumbass go..."

He wound his way around a particularly big rock, keeping in mind the last place he saw Broly. Rounding  a bend behind the rock, Chardok spotted a pod blasting away.

"Yo! Cayenna!" he shouted at the lone figure.

"What is it, runt?" a voice reached him from the opposite side.

"SHIT, you scared me!"

Cayenna hovered in the shade of the boulder, looking every bit as tired as Chardok felt. "Got any bright ideas?"

"Yeah, help me put this plug up that volcano's arse, will you? If that crazy nerd succeeds, they'll need a place to come back to."

"I hear ya. This battle ain't doing the planet any favors. But this one's not big enough, we'll have to look around for a bigger one. So let's get to it and make sure we have a ground to stand on when this is all over!" - Cayenna motioned forward with her palm.

"COME ON! Before that damn freak squashes us like bugs!" - She urged, attempting to hush her voice.

The two flew away a sizable distance until they came across a boulder big enough to cap a mountain. Landing in unison, the two saiyans grabbed at the of the colossal rock formation.

"HEAVE!" - Cayenna grunted as she pressed her palms against it, enveloping it with her own ki so that she wouldn't cut through the surface. "You gotta prime it, Char! It has to go into the volcano in one piece!" - She grunted, gritting her teeth as the exertion of keeping the formation intact towered over the miniscule effort of lifting it up.

"I'm priming, I'm priming, dammit!" - Chardok quipped from a little further away.

"Slowly now! I said SLOWLY!" - Cayenna urged.

"I had no idea you saiyans did anything slowly." - Cayenna heard a voice over her right shoulder. It was the miniature Frieza thing.

"Hey Char, your lizard friend is here! Go away, shrimp. It's heavy lifting time." - Cayenna brushed him off.

"You will never be able to subdue the volcano if you put too much energy into the rock." - The small one said, pointing at the boulder with his miniscule hand.

"How about I subdue your face with my boot, little shit lizard?! Out of my way!" - Cayenna snapped, boring into the young icejin with a murderous gaze.

"He's right, you'll break it apart." - The lanky saiyan female from Celeria's team appeared and grabbed a hold of the boulder side next to Cayenna while the icejin grabbed hold closer to Chardok.

"Look who decided to join us. Plugging dying planets more fun than playing kissy face with doctor doofus? You're a saiyan after all, sweet-cheeks." - Cayenna chortled under her heavy breath.

"Just shut up." - The young woman said, her face flushing red.

"LOSING IT OVER HERE!" - Chardok urged, his feet flailing beneath his small form.

"Right, right!" - Cayenna regained her focus.

"So, lizard kid - you're up!" - She directed, squinting on one eye.

"Just a little more! Steady yourselves, saiyans!" - The icejin yelled.

All four warriors began distributing their ki evenly around the massive formation, slowly lifting it up higher into the air. They wouldn't just be able to drop it, at this altitude, it would undoubtedly shatter. They would have to go into the volcano itself.

"READY?!" - Cayenna screamed.

"HAAAAAAAA!" - All four screamed as they descended into the throat of the volcano which still spewed menacing streams of lava. Their auras roared like wildfire as they protected themselves from the brunt of the devastating heat.

"Just... a... little... further..." - Cayenna bore her teeth as streams of glistening sweat traced along her furrowed brow.

"NOW!" - She yelled out as she began loosening her grip and allowed the boulder to slip past her fingers. The immense weight caused the boulder to slide down much faster, so all four scrambled for their lives upwards. A great power would do nothing against getting burned to a crisp.

A moment later, all four tumbled out of the volcano edge, the aftershock of the sealing procedure sending them off their feet and rolling along the jagged rock side a good deal before they finally regained their bearings. Cayenna leaned on her arms and coughed, Chardok began rubbing the dust and debris out of his mop of hair whereas the saiyan woman gazed almost wistfully into the sky, undeterred by the caking ashes on her face. The small alien however, stared intently in Celeria and Brokka's direction, as if eager to make out their forms through the plumes of smoke.

"I quit." - Cayenna grunted mockingly in a hoarse voice.

The maelstrom of energy that surrounded Brokka and Celeria raged like a hurricane bursting outward. They had little time, and an even smaller window of opportunity to subdue Broly. First, the Doctor – ever the utter fool - had offered himself as a sacrifice so that the General and Commander could gather enough energy to blast Broly out of the solar system. Brokka’s discriminative mind had had alarm bells ringing at the preposterousness of the idea, but as time whittled away, the remaining choices became clear. This freak was adding the energy of a system’s star to his power level by the minutes, and they either fought him head on, which – although difficult to confess – would lead to utter destruction; or they ran with a fool’s plan. The General had opted for the latter method, if only to preserve a little more of this galaxy that he planned to sooner or later control.

As the moments passed, and Kale fell by the wayside, Brokka scrutinised Celeria’s posture. If she made a move to interject; to save the sacrificial lamb, then he would have to intervene yet again. The General saw the contraction of her muscles, he noticed the stimulation of her parasympathetic nervous responses, but he saw no movement. His frown ebbed away, and a small but satisfied smile replaced it. She had finally learned to reign in her emotion long enough to satisfy the primary objective. This had been a trait that the Commander had been sorely lacking during their excursion to Daris those decades ago, when she had prioritised the survival of their strike team above the death of the scientist Marble. But now, against all prior expectation, the Commander was beginning to exhibit promise not just on a physical level, but on a cognitive one as well. Her usefulness was beginning to supersede the inconvenience she had previously caused.

Brokka also had to concede that the Doctor had made a gallant sacrifice for one so meagre. This boy hadn’t even been born into the true warrior caste, yet he had already observed him lead an offense in the past that was, in some part, competent against the General. And then, during the short standoff with Broly, Kale had surprised again by igniting in more raw power than he’d thought the runt capable. These were strange times to be a surviving member of the Saiyan race, but Brokka digressed. In moments his power level would climax, and he’d have sufficient enough fuel to blast the freak north of everything. A snicker rolled on his tongue as his aura trundled in golden strands – the end was quickly approaching.

No soon as the Doctor had lost consciousness and receded into the bowls of the planet, however, another had come to save him. Brokka’s attention was only very sparingly given to Kale’s survival, as he watched, instead, Broly begin to bellow frantically. These mewlings were different to the rampant laughter of his prior insanity, as they seemed to resemble pain or inner conflict. The General’s eyes flared and his brows furrowed. What had that Doctor said to the madman - surely simple words hadn't produced this crippling affliction upon Broly? Soon after the harrowing moans commenced, the Legendary Super Saiyan began to descend to the floor. His large, muscular hands grasping at his skull. Brokka could see that his will to fight was eroding rapidly. The time to strike was now.

“Commander.” He spat with conviction. “Ready your assault. It seems this ‘legend’ has fallen.” He grinned.

Doubt curdled away at Broly’s mind. And as his thoughts were washed over by this plague, his torrential power began to wane. Without rage and hatred as his constant companion, the Legendary Super Saiyan was unable to sustain his almighty strength, and slowly his harlequin aura contracted inward, until it was less like a simmering vat of lava, and more like a rippling pond. Broly’s white-glazed eyes looked down upon the trembling planet. Magma seeped out of every nuke and cranny of the world, and harmful gasses pervaded the air. Had all this destruction been the result of a lie? Had he, with all of this impossible power at his disposal, been the victim of a lifetime of manipulation? He shook his bulging head slowly; he felt the humid winds brushing against his flesh. Hot ash plumes clung to his cheeks, and he gently closed his eyes as he became engulfed in uncertainty.

Suddenly, he bellowed with the full capacity of his lungs, and a hoarse cry escaped him. The fool Saiyan’s words continued to repeat in his mind, over and over, until his thoughts were no longer compatible with his rage.

”Do you remember screaming, Broly, do you? Do you remember resisting the control?!”

The Legendary Super Saiyan gripped his teal forks of hair with his hands and writhed in mental agony. Control, it had been control! Why was he here – how had he even got to this place? Where had he been for all these years – and why didn’t he remember making a single decision of his own? His life, up until this point, was little more than an illusion; a brittle shell of curiosities that shattered upon inspection. Paragus had controlled him this whole time, he remembered clearly now. Broly’s power had proved too immense for even his father to control, and in a fit of madness, the young Saiyan had even removed Paragus’ eye from its socket. And due to a pervasive sense of fear, his father had resorted to the coward’s way out, and had sought out a control device capable of pacifying the Legendary Super Saiyan. It was all as clear as an oasis to Broly now, in fact, he failed to understand how he’d been so blind to it this whole time. That fool Saiyan was right; Paragus had never intended to seek retribution for Broly, only himself. That weakling was no Saiyan after all, and if he hadn’t already perished, Broly would have broken him himself.

Slowly the Legendary Super Saiyan descended from the sky. As he sank into the bowels of the planet, his will to fight eviscerated, and with it his large bulking frame retracted, and his hair returned to its placid blackness. His green aura eventually dissipated, and he collapsed on his hands and knees against the scorching rubble of the world. Silence lingered, as he lamented the lie that had been his life. Finally, he peeled his eyelids open and raised his head to meet the gaze of his mother and General Brokka. This woman could never have conspired to kill him, not her; never her. She was his mother, and that was all that remained true to Broly. If there was some solace left to be found in this galaxy, even if it was just a kernel, then it would be here, with her.

“...Mother...” He muttered. The gruff hostility of his previous voice now replaced with soft sincerity. “...Who am I...?”
