PostSubject: To Kill a Legend   Fri Apr 03, 2015 3:44 pm

Not much time had passed since Celeria had left the PTO headquarters. Since her ascension. From that day on, she had spent the majority of her days training. She couldn't remember when was the last time she did a tour of the saucer to make sure everything was in working order. Then again, she was confident that Kale and Keyla would make sure that the ship is functioning properly.

She was laying down in the small room adjacent to the training chamber, staring at the ceiling. She had done her best to try and get some rest but sleep refused to come. Every time she would pry herself away from her training, her mind would be filled with the images of all the saiyans that perished on the colony. All the saiyans that had to disperse in the aftermath of the PTO incident for their own safety.

Ever since she could remember, Celeria was unusually attached to her fellow kinsmen. She had made an example for Cayenna when she was young and had made her father and mother proud. She had helped the other soldiers train at the academy and beat down those who reproached her for it. She was always so insistent on taking care of her comrades but she never knew why.

Her mind wandered back through time until she remembered herself walking down an almost abandoned corridor in the main facility on planet Vegeta. She was making her way to the incubation chamber. For one reason or another, few saiyans actually bothered to visit their children or to even see them after they were born. Celeria, however, felt the need to do so. Because in her mind, she was not just producing fresh meat but future soldiers of the saiyan race. Deep down, she felt it was her responsibility to make sure they grew up to the task. She had done the same for the child Brokka had fathered and she would do the same for her younger son.

As soon as she stepped into the nursery, her features contorted with annoyance. He was crying again, bawling like a fool. Celeria grunted under her breath as she approached his crib, leaning over it and looking upon her son sternly. His expression changed as soon as he saw her.

"Quiet." - she ordered. The plump baby looked at her and gave an amused giggle before falling asleep.

Next to his crib was another child and he too was crying. Celeria's scouter picked up the infant and read an impossible level. This was no doubt Paragus' kid, the one who caused so much debate. She walked over to him and picked up the small bundle of saiyan flesh. He did not look different than a normal saiyan child, there was no difference in height, weight or muscle density, she thought as she cradled him. By the time she was done analysing him, he had fallen asleep in her arms.

Gently, Celeria set him back down into his crib. Raising her palm to his face, she brushed off a strand of hair that covered his warm forehead. The child then wrapped its tiny palms around her gloved hand and leaned upon it, apparently still fast asleep. She considered him for a few more seconds before slowly removing her hand from the child's embrace.

As she walked out, she was filled with a strange feeling of apprehension which she shut out of her mind. Although offspring were expendable at this age, Celeria had hoped that the young ones would soon prove themselves and earn their place in the military. She could not help but feel reassured at the idea that these infants would somehow contribute to the greatness of the saiyan race.

But would there be a saiyan race in the end, she wondered, as her mind returned to the gray ceiling of her makeshift quarters.

Suddenly, her scouter blipped into life. She had attuned it to the ship's frequency and the ship was no doubt picking something up. The Commander instantly rose to her feet and initiated her computer terminal. The screen flashed with a sequence of letters, a sequence she had seen before. A sequence that only someone from King Vegeta's military would know. She had decrypted the sequence as it unraveled and as the final symbol flashed on the screen, Celeria rose from her seat and moved to the armor compartment.

While she suited up, the machine had produced a printed copy of the transmission. The Commander would consult her team before proceeding. Picking up the several sheets of paper, she exited her quarters and made her way to the common room, probably for the first time since they set foot on the ship.

Surely enough, Kale was there with Keyla and the small icejin they had picked up on the PTO world. Celeria had approached the desk and set the papers down in front of Kale.

"Do you recognize this sequence, doctor?" - she murmured, examining his features closely for a reaction.

"I surmised you would recognize it, as your file indicated a degree of proficiency in military code. Doctor, this communication was signaled by someone from our homeplanet." - she elaborated, crossing her arms.

"It is imperative that we investigate the source of the transmission."

“...So, then the lieutenant says to the Arcosian prince - ‘I’m just Sai-yan!’” Kale erupted into fits of laughter, squeezing his sides in amusement at his own pun. Keyla on the other hand, barely cracked a smile, instead opting to continue gorging on the cheap processed food from the crew quarters. Magma, who perched himself on one of Keyla’s shoulders, simply looked on in bewilderment, unsure about the nature of what had just transpired.

“Oh come on guys, that one was some of my best material! You know, it takes me longer to think this stuff up than it does to perform open heart surgery...” The doctor crossed his arms irritably, and scrutinised Magma’s perplexed globular face.

“...So, the sentient clarified that he was Saiyan in origin and the dispute with the Arcosian diplomat dissipated?” Magma furrowed his brow. “I fail to see the ‘comedy’ in this interaction. Is it funny because the Saiyans are renowned the universe over for their less than average intellect? Did divulging his species get the lieutenant out of his pickle because the Arcosian would ultimately pity him?” The Icejin stroked his pointy chin. “On further inspection, surely the Arcosian was already privy to knowledge of the lieutenant’s species, due to the presence of a tail and the race’s largely homogenous features.”

Keyla instantly halted her feeding frenzy, midway through biting into a meat breast, to fire a glare at Magma. The Icejin failed to pick up her frosty demeanour, however, and he continued to speculate. Kale, on the other hand, had already buried his face in his hands. He would never be able to teach Magma how to tell a joke, it was impossible! He shook his head in his palms before responding.

“Okay, number one: that’s really insulting. Yes, most of us are pretty dumb...” Keyla’s fiery glare now burned holes through Kale instead. “...Present company excluded, of course.” He rubbed his head in a pang of nervousness and briefly giggled. “But I’m a doctor! I heal VERY sick people! You need serious smarts for that.”

“Well, that’s debatable...” Magma quipped, aptly. This time, Keyla’s mouth drew into a large smile as half a leg of meat protruded from her lips. Now it was Kale’s turn to do the glaring.
“Number two: We DO NOT all look alike, have you seen how different my eye colour is to Keyla’s, hmph?” The Doctor’s eyes widened as he leaned in to the lippy Icejin.

“...You both have black eyes...” Magma said, in observant bemusement.

“Actually...” Kale began gripping his jacket in pride, “My eyes are more like chrome, and Keyla’s are ebony. Isn’t that right, nurse?” Kale nodded towards Keyla, who was becoming increasingly more occupied with her five plates of food.

“Eh, yeah, whatever the Doctor said.” She commenced digging in.

The Doctor eventually sighed. “Look, the joke was funny because the word ‘Saiyan’ sounds remarkably similar to ‘saying’, get it?” He crossed his arms again.

“No it doesn’t. ‘Saying’ has a ‘G’ at the end of it...” Magma crossed his arms too, his small face welling in confusion.

“FORGET IT!” The Doctor exclaimed, as he cycled through his ‘Funniest Jokes’ database on his scouter. “Okay, hilarity is bound to ensue with this one...” Magma had already begun sighing before Kale could begin. The Doctor would never be able to make it up to Magma for teaching him how to sense ki if the Icejin didn’t, at least, learn to tell a single joke!

Keyla momentarily paused scoffing between plates and interjected. “Is this the one about the Super Saiyan and the lightbulb?” She raised her brow, her tone oozing monotony.

“Eh... Noooooo, of course not.” Kale responded, as he discreetly selected a joke that he hopefully hadn’t told the nurse five times already. “Okay, here goes... How many Icejin does it take to count to-“

Suddenly, the Commander, who had been withdrawn for days from the remainder of the small crew, entered the common room and approached the small table that the three were lounged around.

“Do you recognise this sequence, Doctor?” Kale examined the Commander’s face; beads of sweat were still rolling down her forehead. She had been training for days on end, seldom without stop. The Doctor worried about her psychological condition at times, but had since concluded that her excessive reclusiveness had been induced by the disbanding of the colony. He took the copy paper from her hands and looked down at the lines and lines of code. Both Keyla and Magma halted what they were doing to closely observe Kale’s reaction.

"I surmised you would recognize it, as your file indicated a degree of proficiency in military code. Doctor, this communication was signaled by someone from our homeplanet. It is imperative that we investigate the source of the transmission.”

The Doctor was rusty with old Saiyan military coding, he’d not encrypted anything since his time at the academy. But, this wasn’t a difficult sequence to decode, and quickly the message became clear. Kale’s face fell wide open as he relayed the message to the team.

“Follow coordinates 1,899.3 – 5.442.1 – 318.62. There you will find the surviving... Saiyan species!” His expression contorted until he expressed utter surprise and disbelief. “I’m sorry Commander, but, this can’t be authentic.” He looked the dead certain Celeria in the eyes as he relayed his doubt. Who would possibly send out such an easily decrypted signal across the whole of the cosmos - especially when a threat like the PTO could retrieve it before an ally? And, just how long ago had this transmission been sent? Any possible survivors could have long been wiped out by now by Freeza’s men. That, or the signal was in fact a dud, and it was goading any potential survivors to their deaths. Kale didn’t trust the transmission one bit, but, they did now have a genuine Super Saiyan on their side. Celeria was now far more formidable than anything the PTO could throw at them; it wasn’t altogether a humongous risk.

As the Doctor’s eyes panned over to the others, Keyla’s food had now dropped to its plate, and Magma was standing to attention on her shoulder. And here he’d thought they’d all get a break for longer than a couple of months.

"This was not a request, doctor. It was an order." - The Commander's stern eyes zeroed in on the doctor's face and scrutinized him.

It did not take her long to observe that the doctor was seeping back to the runt of the saiyan litter. They had earned some respite, of course, but that did not mean that respite was due. Respite could not be due until they have secured a place for their race in this universe. Both the doctor and the nurse should have been aware of that when they volunteered to accompany her on this mission. But it did not matter. She had transformed and would carry out her mission alone, if needed.

"I am taking us down."
- she turned on her heel and proceeded through the door.

"You are not required to accompany me out on the field."
- she muttered as she made her way outside the common room to the cockpit.

It had been a while since Celeria had piloted a vessel herself. She sat down and strapped herself, her fingers hovering over the controls before she began punching in coordinates at an exceptional speed. All her knowledge flooded back into her brain. This ship was much newer than the ones she had a chance to pilot, however the basic operations remained the same.

"Grab on to something." - she instructed over the comlink.

Celeria's lips curved into an amused grin as she gripped the control yoke and engaged the ship which instantly began a sharp but effective descent. Although the flight was abrupt and incredibly fast, it was surprisingly smooth. Celeria's superior reflexes made it seem like the ship was stuck in a violent vortex before floating softly over the surface of the planet.

“Yes Commander, of course.” Kale sharply nodded, the arch in his back instantly straightening. He had been foolish enough to hope that since the unit had been reduced to three Saiyans –two of which were medical staff- and one miscellaneous, the military pecking order had gone out the window. But, apparently, it seemed that the Commander was eager to cling onto the old way of doing things. The Doctor couldn’t really blame her, she’d spent a lifetime under military regime, and probably had little concept of life outside of it. But, he did wonder what the long-term goal of the crew was. What was going to happen once they reached this planet Earth? They had already ascertained in the past that whoever lived on that world had been strong enough to defeat Freeza. And, now Celeria had recently informed him that there was another surviving Saiyan on Earth – and an alleged Super Saiyan too. Kale didn’t know how true all of this Intel was, but at least it was the overarching goal of their travels.

As the ship entered the system and descended into the atmosphere, the Doctor ran some rudimentary scans of the surrounding area and detected something slightly out of the ordinary. At the edge of the system, just past the furthest planet, was a black hole. Kale had travelled through systems before that were similarly as dangerous, but never had he had to make a social call in such a place. This was a bizarre place for a rendezvous indeed. Were the coordinates really correct – perhaps he’d made an error? On current readings, this system was due to be swallowed into a singularity in less than a year. He would relay this information to the Commander whenever he was afforded a second.

Once the ship landed, Celeria, as CO was the first to go ashore. Then, the rest of the crew were permitted to follow. Magma, was not officially a part of the unit, but he’d found a somewhat cushy equilibrium as a participating passenger. Meaning that he travelled with the small crew at the behest of Celeria, and he tended to get involved in any shore based operations – snarky remarks and all. This often exacerbated the Doctor enough to want to throw the little guy out of the airlock. But of course, then he’d have nobody new to relay his comedic materials to.

As Kale stepped onto the world’s surface, he looked around and grimaced. “Honey I’m... Not home.” He pouted. This world was volcanic, and one such volcano nearby looked ready to erupt at any moment. Keyla and Magma quickly fell in alongside him.

“Not what you were expecting Doctor – would you prefer some grass and ocean?” Keyla teased, as she activated her scouter.

“More ocean, less grass.” The Doctor quipped. “The strands get stuck in my boots.” He frowned. Keyla huffed then revealed a small smirk. He knew she found him funnier than she’d care to admit.

“Silence fools! Up ahead, the settlement.” Magma exclaimed, with all of his usual decorum.

Kale rolled his eyes and slowly levitated into the sky. Celeria had apparently already noticed the large commune, and had begun towards it. The gang was officially back in action.

The blabber of the medical officers almost went on her last nerve and when she decided to voice her dissatisfaction, Magma has chimed in, literally speaking the words out of her mouth. Celeria almost grinned with approval.

"Move out." - she ordered, gesturing towards the settlement in the distance.

--------

The liutenant sat with the General and the Private, a mighty army of three huddled around a campfire, enjoying their usual diet of alien carcasses. Cayenna was digging her fangs into a roasted hunk of meat when her scouter blipped. Surprised, she checked it as it blipped again. Then, Chardok's scouter did the same. And then the General's. It seemed to be a code and it looked vaguely familiar but she could not remember where she saw it for the last time.

"What the hell is going on with this thing?" - she tapped her scouter several times in an attempt to silence it.

This world was even more drab than the last, but it no longer mattered to the General. He and he alone had procured the legendary status of Super Saiyan. Everything else; conquest, revenge, rebirth, all these things were negligible compared to his new found power. The months following his ascension had been most simple. With the power of the legendary warrior in hand, Brokka and his small unit had infiltrated several key Planet Trade Organisation worlds, until more and more of the enemy’s influence became his own. Now his military empire was steadily growing, and with each world belonging to the PTO that they invaded and destroyed, new and more promising challenges became available. No longer had his grunts been required to crush bugs below their feet. Yes, they were still superior to any resistance, but now at least there was the merest semblance of a challenge.

As Brokka stood in silence, consuming his cooked leg of humanoid, his scouter came alive. At first, both the Lieutenant and Private were confused, but as reels of code began to flood the General’s display, he instantly recognised the sequence.

“An old Saiyan code, used during the Tuffle War.” He muttered, taking a chunk out of the leg of meat. It only took him moments to decipher the code, and no sooner than he was done, he issued an order. “We’re done here. Move out.”

PostSubject: Re: To Kill a Legend   Mon Apr 06, 2015 3:36 pm

After decades of planning, the day was finally here. Paragus, the once exiled son of the long dead planet Vegeta, was ready to acquire his revenge. If it hadn’t been for his child, Broly, a Saiyan born with impossible power, then Paragus would have burnt with his world. It had long ago been ordered by the Saiyan ruling class that the newborn Broly was too powerful. And therefore, King Vegeta had deemed him a threat to his and his heirs’ supremacy. Paragus remembered that day; he clung to the feelings of betrayal. In the throne room he had begged for his son’s survival. He had pleaded with King Vegeta, and promised that Broly would act as the personal trainer of Prince Vegeta. He had made many promises that day, and he had sworn every allegiance to the crown and to Freeza. But, he and his son were cast aside by cowards; by those who would call themselves warriors but were no better than slaves.

When Paragus and his son had been left for dead, however, a streak of luck occurred. Freeza, deranged by his own power, eviscerated planet Vegeta. But his son Broly, even as a simple baby, had possessed the power to salvage Paragus from the planet blast radius and the vacuum of space. They travelled for years from world to world. They kept a low profile and Paragus plotted. And all the while, his son grew stronger. It wasn’t long before the father knew the prophecy to be true, and Broly was realised as the Legendary Super Saiyan. This power, however, came at a cost. Driven to insanity by his own incomprehensible strength, his son lost lucidity for hours, if not days at a time. At first, the bouts of mania were manageable. Paragus was Broly’s father, and he could often control him. But as time passed, even his influence was not enough to stop him from crushing worlds and stars needlessly. After a vicious attack on his own father that left him bloodied and badly scarred, Paragus made the heavy decision to have Broly controlled against his will. When the boy slept, Paragus fitted him with a control band. This small device, fitted to the head, scrambled neurological frequencies, pacifying the target completely. Now, regrettably, Broly was as complacent as a husk. But in this form, all of his son’s incredible might belonged to Paragus.

It had taken a raid on a small PTO owned planet to realise that other Saiyans had survived. The database had records of two in total. The first was Commander Celeria, the warrior who had killed King Cold himself. The second was General Brokka, the infamous Saiyan legend who had recently captured high profile PTO strongholds. These two warriors, to Paragus’ great surprise, were living members of King Vegeta’s war council. The very same council that had advised the King on Paragus’ and his son’s grim fate. In the absence of a living King, these two fools would be sufficient for father and son’s revenge. A simple encrypted signal was concocted, heralding back to the Tuffle War, and was sent to the last known locations of the two warriors. And with time, planning, and patience, Paragus had seen to it that the signal had been received by both warriors’ at similar times. Now, they both raced to his location, and in a matter of moments, Paragus would unleash Broly, putting an end to their executioners once and for all.

The doors to the dimly lit central chamber slowly swung open. Paragus stood in the centre of the room, and from out of the heavy doorway stood a tall, imposing Saiyan draped in a cape. On both sides he was flanked by protection.

“General Brokka.” Paragus took to one knee and bowed his head. “It is an honour.” He grinned in the shadows.

PostSubject: Re: To Kill a Legend   Mon Apr 13, 2015 10:24 am

The pods exploded at the volcanic surface with the power of a magmatic eruption. Brokka and his small entourage instantly levitated from the blast craters. The word was barren and fierce; truly uninhabitable. As the General stood on the roasting surface, gales of heated winds swept under his royal purple cape, causing it to billow wildly. His scouter sprung to life, and suddenly it revealed the existence of a small complex a couple of thousand miles from the landing zone. He grinned as he surveyed with curiosity his surroundings. Why would any surviving member of his species settle in an environment even more inhospitable than their home world? He wasn’t puzzled by the desire to exist on such a volatile world, but by the dangers posed by meeting on such an explosive planet. There was more to this meeting than met the eye, Brokka’s vast experience knew it.

Without words the group of three blasted off, cutting through the burning air. In seconds they arrived at a tall installation - something that looked akin to a battle fortress or palace. These weren’t standard living conditions, and were almost certainly erected by a Saiyan. He stopped in front of the structure forged of metals and scrutinised its purpose. Was this truly an assembly of all surviving members of the Saiyan race – or was it a witch hunt? He’d soon discover the truth, but to his astonishment the General hoped that what lay within was hostile. He’d already done a significant job of elevating what was left of his people, they didn’t need a false savour to reconstitute them now, what they needed was formidable enemies.

They entered the dark installation, inside natural light was scarce, and the walls were only partially illuminated by dim bulbs. As he walked through the largely hollow complex, his scouter guided him to a single power reading. It wasn’t extensive, but it was large enough to be Saiyan. He followed the signal until eventually he was met by a large doorway similar to that of the Saiyan throne room. Brokka grinned, this was either a clever game or someone’s infantile idea of resurrecting a dead horse. With a flat palm he forced the door open, and on the other side, bowing in reverence was a partially armoured man. The General passed the threshold into the large chamber; he kept walking towards the subservient crouching figure. His grin fell away as his irritation at being summoned intensified.

“Keep your honour to yourself and explain what’s going on here, now.” Brokka retorted, his tone assertive as opposed to being aggressive. This man knew exactly who Brokka was, but the General had no idea who was receiving him. From the looks of him, the dark hair and the tail, he was Saiyan. But not everybody from his species was a friendly face, and in most cases they were simply another adversary.

“Forgive me for the crude way of getting your attention General Brokka, but it was the only way I knew to summon you.” The man rose, as Brokka got a better look at his features he saw significant battle scars. Even one of his eyes had been gouged out. “I am Paragus, loyal servant to King Vegeta. And I have taken it upon myself to reconstitute our race, so that a new ruler can be chosen and we can be returned to prominence.”

The General heard some kind of untoward remark from Cayenna behind him, but he had no time for jokes. He crossed his arms, and his mind exploded with Saiyan faces. Who was Paragus – Brokka seldom remembered anyone of that name? Had he also been placed in status, or had he survived through other means?

“How did you survive?” The General barked, still clinging to his suspicions.

“Both myself and my son Broly were off world during the attack. Although Freeza had summoned all Saiyans back home, I had become dubious of his intentions. After all, there were whispers that he was becoming afraid of our power. It was only a matter of time before he destroyed us for good. I took a bargain, and it paid off.” Paragus’ voice seemed filled with respect and honestly, but the mention of a son ignited Brokka’s inquiry further.

“You were off world with your son? A child?” The General’s thick grey eyebrows peaked.

“...Yes General. As you know, we low class Saiyans are required to send our infant children to weak and vulnerable worlds. And then, when they have dominated the population with the strength of their Oozaru form, the parent must retrieve them. I was simply returning Broly to his home.” Paragus bowed again.

To Brokka, Paragus’ alibi was strong. But, why his son Broly was not in attendance was cause for further suspicion. The General began to survey the room, he strode about it analysing for any hidden compartments or traps. It was possible that Paragus had truly been alignment with Freeza, and now he’d been offered his life in exchange for any other surviving Saiyans. Of course, if he tried to kill Brokka he would fail. The General was now more powerful than Paragus and Freeza could possibly fathom, and he itched to demonstrate his strength.

“Where is Broly? Bring him to me.” Brokka fired a commanding glance at Paragus.

“Of course General, he is already on his way here to greet you. He was simply training in the molten tundra and no doubt got carried away. But there are more pressing matters to attend to, that I feel you, as one of the highest ranking Saiyans alive must be made aware of.”

One of them? “Then speak quickly.” The General said smugly.

“The Cold dynasty is dead. King Cold, Cooler and even... Freeza have been defeated.” Paragus uttered with a grin.

Brokka’s eyes flared and his attention sharpened. The ruling class of the PTO were all dead - how was this possible? The General returned to where he had previously stood in the centre of Cayenna and Chardok and stared through Paragus. His Intel was impressive if it was true, but how he’d become so privy to such knowledge was the more pressing matter.

“Defeated by whom?” The General crossed his arms at his front. His muscular figure appeared defined, threatening.

“Defeated by a collegiate, General – but on different fronts. Freeza was killed on a planet named Earth, possibly by the surviving Prince Vegeta.” Paragus spoke with a calm that was contradictory to his words.

“Prince Vegeta? He’s dead, fool.” Brokka snapped, his voice growling.

“I’m afraid not General. He survived the final day and swore his service to Freeza for a generation afterwards. Why the Prince would do such a thing after his people were butchered is confusing, but somehow he must have managed to finish Freeza in the end.”

The General gritted his teeth. The son of the bastard who had sold them into slavery survived? And, to rub dirt in the wound, that fool also continued to serve Freeza after all that had wronged them. Brokka’s fury ignited, but he kept it in check as Paragus spoke. The next stop, of course, was Earth.

“And his father and brother were defeated by a group of Saiyans who I have invited here. They have just arrived. I’m sure you’re already acquainted...”

Brokka huffed with a new sense of fury, and soon the doors at the opposite end of the chamber swung open. When the group of Saiyans revealed themselves, he simply grinned.

It did not take Celeria long to reach the entrance to the settlement that housed the signal beacon. It was in fact a majestic ivory tower. She pondered on the design for a few moments before descending. Apparently, there was no weaponry mounted on the walls and furthermore, the building did not seem to possess security systems of any kind. Very strange indeed.

The only entrance to the chamber was through a wide corridor. Celeria proceeded inside with slight apprehension as her heels clicked on the solid marble floor. The structure was impressive, it no doubt took an immense amount of effort to build. But where were the workers? Where was anyone?

"Keep your guard up. And not a word out of either of you." - she gestured at the other three.

She heard a voice from the central chamber further down the corridor. Although the structure was imposingly lighted, the chamber itself was shrouded in darkness, with inconspicuous lighting at best.

"Eh... Commander..." - Kale suddenly stopped in his tracks. "I don't think this was such a good idea. I'm sensing... something, and it's pretty bad."

Celeria shot him a look that could kill.

"The doctor is right. There might be a Commander outside, but there is a Commander inside as well. I sense four powers in the chamber. One of which rivals your own, great horned one." - Magma muttered, pointing at the entrance to the chamber. "But I would greatly wish to see who resides inside."

Celeria stared wide-eyed at the chamber, as her hair instantly stood on end. So it was a trap! Could it be Frieza? Had he followed them to exact revenge? Celeria relaxed her muscles and proceeded towards the chamber at a calm pace. There was little point in turning back now, the occupants of the chamber were no doubt aware of their presence in some way. But as she approached, Celeria's unease grew. It was then that her ears picked up a familiar voice. A voice she had not heard for over 30 years.

Celeria's pace increased briskly as she stormed into the room and saw not only Paragus, but the impossible sight of her surprised sister staring back at her wide-eyed and the face of another private whose name she remembered and him.

She did not even need to look upon him to know that he was there, she could smell him. Celeria growled, gritting her teeth and clenching her fists furiously as she eerily slid her burning gaze from Paragus, onto Cayenna, onto the private and, finally, onto Brokka. However, she stilled her fists which now threatened to tremble and although her rage burned within her, she decided to stay her hand, for now.

"Paragus." - she began, focusing her burning gaze on the soldier in front of her.

"I demand an explanation."
- she ordered coldly.

She assumed a defensive stance, standing up straight and resting her clenched fists on her sides. She made sure that if Brokka or his entourage made any attempt on her party, they would meet with her fists first. The Commander was worried about the doctor's reaction, but hoped he would fall in and follow her example, for once. This situation was far too absurd for comfort and although Celeria wanted nothing more than to stomp on Brokka's face and watch it fountain blood, the situation warranted further investigation.

The feeling was indescribable. In the short time that Kale had learned to rely on his senses to feel for the ki of others, he had never felt anything so, raw. Each being, be it Celeria, Keyla or Magma, had their own energy signature. And Kale had become accustomed to the feeling of each of the crew, but what he felt now was unnerving. His gut threatened to wrench as he passed the threshold of the large doorway. What the Doctor finally saw was what he’d dreaded for nearly the past year.

Amongst a small group of Saiyans - some of which were recognisable from their colony dossiers - was the monster General Brokka. Kale gasped, and then kept gasping. He hadn’t even realised it but his fists had already began to screw into knots, and he assumed a battle stance. All the while he stood behind Celeria, who appeared equally as disturbed by the sight before them. The Doctor felt his heart beating in his throat, his adrenaline was exploding through him - this was bad. He remembered clearly the beating Brokka had given him on the colony, and he remembered how sadistically the General had acted in the face of murdering his own people. This man, right here, was more sinister than even Freeza. The Doctor bit on his lower lip, and he felt his power unavoidably climbing. When Brokka was around, things always tended to end... nastily.

“Yet another extraordinarily tall person. This one is built like a tree, too. How curious.” Magma quipped, but this wasn’t the time.

“Doctor, keep it in check.” Keyla whispered. “You know how this could end...” She trailed off.

“...I know how I want this to end.” Kale eventually muttered, through gritted teeth.

“Commander Celeria.” Again, Paragus bowed in reverence. Brokka was more interested in the walking corpse in front of him, however, and disregarded Paragus' gestures. “Allow me to give you one. You already know-“

“Silence.” Brokka grunted, his voice echoing in the large chamber like ripples through a river. The room became quiet, suddenly; the eyes of his soldiers and that of his enemies were upon the General. He didn’t quite know how, nor did he care for the details, but the Commander had survived her brutal execution. And now here she was, returning for revenge no doubt. A grin encompassed Brokka’s face. This was the calling of the warrior, right here, right now. He had been bemused by Celeria’s ability a year ago, when she had fallen to him in seconds. But now, he could tell by just a glance that she was changed. If it was her who had defeated Cooler and his father then she had grown in power far more than Brokka could have anticipated. And, as such, he would enjoy taking as a trophy that green scalp of hers. This time, she wouldn’t stumble away with her life, this time; she would melt in the volcanic rock of this desolate world.

“Freeza’s dead, Commander. And so our journey for retribution has come to an end.” Brokka strode past Paragus, throwing him to his knees with the merest of pushes. “All that remains in unsettled business: you, and me.” It was a rule that none of Brokka’s enemies walked away with their lives. But Celeria had been the exception to that rule. Now her crimes included hiding Brokka’s own son from his grasp, and living when he had deemed her unworthy. He grinned, his mottled face enticing her to make the first move.

Celeria furrowed her brows as Brokka interrupted Paragus and pushed him aside, stopping right in front of her. She looked unamused. But if anything, she was glad she would execute her mission sooner rather than later.

"Spare me your babbling, Brokka." - This was the very first time Celeria had referred to him by name and not by title, and she spat it out with particular disgust.

She disregarded him and as he primed to strike, she disappeared and reappeared next to him, her muscles tightening as she unleashed a swift backhand, primed with the ki that she had been stealthily gathering since she entered the complex, propelling Brokka clean through the building and into the wasteland with the aftershock. She needed a moment of silence.

"Doctor, you are to assume command and brief Privates Paragus, Chardok and Cayenna adequately." - she instructed coldly, but her voice began to tremble with anger.

"It's Lieutenant Cayenna now, you know!" - Cayenna chimed in jokingly.

Celeria shot her down with a glance and Cayenna flinched back under its weight.

The Commander proceeded to the gaping hole in the wall as she cracked her knuckles menacingly.

"I have a debt to collect." - she declared as she was instantly engulfed in violent silver flames, erupting into a swift flight after her enemy.

The Commander’s fist connected with the General’s lip. Instantly, his blood capillaries burst open, and a small gash yielded a crimson mist. Suddenly, the incredible force of the attack caused Brokka’s body to leave the ground, and it smashed through the far wall. The further his body rag-dolled through the air, the more momentum was gained. But, luckily for the General, he was just playing warm up.

General Brokka instantly forward somersaulted against the g-force carrying him backwards. His transparent aura exploded around him, seeping through his every crevice, until he raged with enough raw power to stop the forces of gravity in their tracks. Instantly, he came to a halt, his body regaining its mighty composure. But as he hung in the middle of the roasting sky, there was no time for contemplation. Instead he released a half-grin. So she had increased in power after all? Perhaps she was not as tiny as he had originally thought. Not all surprises caused the General’s blood to boil, in fact this was going to be exhilarating.

Brokka suddenly tapped into his super speed and faded into the dusky smoke of the rising volcanic ash. Travelling at this unparalleled pace caused his senses to flare, and suddenly he saw the Commander bursting free of the installation. As she approached, ever vigilant to identify her foe, the General rushed her. She no doubt felt the shift in the air, but it was too late. Suddenly, the larger Saiyan materialised behind Celeria, and drove the butt of his knee between several of her vertebrae. Then, taking her brittle throat into his massive grasp, he gripped her by the gullet and with his full momentum drove her downward into a molten valley. The planet’s crust suddenly ignited in a spectrum of dust and flames at the sheer force of the collision. And all the while, Brokka held Celeria by the throat, driving her further and further towards the core of the planet. All she could see, all he would allow her to see, was his face, doused in satisfaction.

As soon as she left the perimeter of the structure, Brokka was instantly upon her. Despite him landing a hit on her, she was quite pleased. Indeed, it was time to gauge the extent of the General's abilities. For now, she was content to let him lead as he gripped her by the throat and drove her into the planet's molten soil, pushing her towards the core, grinning with delight.

Celeria was expressionless and she gave a few grunts as her body broke through the volcanic rock. But as they approached the planet's core, Celeria had decided she had enough. She observed his self-absorbed smirk and it brought a devious grin to her face as she gripped his arm with both her hands, holding him down tightly as she stopped them both in their tracks. They were surrounded by molten rock from all sides, blackness and a burning red hue threatening to devour them both. Fighting it out near the core of a volatile planet, surrounded by danger on all sides. Celeria found herself feeling almost as if she missed this. Visibly amused, she allowed golden flames to appear around both of them as her silky green hair formed into ominous golden spikes. She kept her gaze locked with Brokka's as her black orbs erupted with an emerald green hue.

Brokka's expression instantly changed from perverse satisfaction to profound outrage as she suddenly released her grip on him and placed her palms forward in front of his face. Her grin turned into a snarl.

"FINAL FLASH!" - she roared as she instantly unleashed the most devastating energy attack she had ever mustered. The blinding light struck Brokka with full force, obliterating everything in its wake and pushing him back with sheer force. As her nostrils filled with with the scent of charred flesh, Celeria felt her bloodlust stirring, she would be pleased to fill her mouth with Brokka's vile blood.

She slowly hovered out of the gigantic crater, fists clenched and body and mind primed for battle. This was not the last of the General and Celeria was surprised to find that she would have it no other way.

Brokka and Celeria traded blow for blow at the core of the burning planet. Each fist and parry was received somewhat evenly, and although the odds were somewhat more evenly stacked this time around, the General was exhilarated. He had travelled the length and breadth of the galaxy for months, and never had he stood on such a nearly even playing field. Shame the Commander was destined to fail; shame she would always be his inferior. As the two raged on in battle, their auras became like a single intertwined storm, tearing a hole the size of a small moon in the world’s core. Eventually, Celeria appeared to be done with the warm up, bringing the preliminary round to an early end with a surprising jack up her sleeve.

She grinned in the same way that he would. The Commander had become more like him that she’d care to admit. Then, her entire body came alive, as the familiar power of a Super Saiyan erupted from her being. The golden flames engulfed her, and her eyes illuminated like green beacons. Brokka’s malignant grin quickly gave way to confusion – there were others beside him? Then, he gritted his molars until he saw red. Yet another injustice committed against him that she would pay for. But before the General could tap into his own vast well of energy, Celeria acted with a stench of cowardice unleashing her most formidable attack, the Final Flash, straight away. This move was one unworthy of a warrior dubbed Commander. And as Brokka fought the torrential blast with both of his arms stretched out, he attempted to redirect the head of the attack upward. Because should it hit the planet’s core, then the entire world would ignite, and then they would all be dead. Fool! She had elected to kill him at any cost, even if her own life was forfeit. She was pathetic.

Brokka grappled with the blast a little longer, its overwhelming size and power caused scorching of both his hands and arms. He’d forgotten how ferocious the Final Flash attack was, but the more it bit at him, the more energy he accumulated. Suddenly his hands formed into fists, and his transparent aura bled into a frenzy of golden embers. His muscle mass suddenly doubled, and his grey mane danced and sharpened into formidable golden spikes. Finally his eyes lit up like green nebulas, as he summoned the overwhelming power of his Super Saiyan transformation to redirect the Final Flash out of the planet’s core and through the crust and into the sky. He breathed heavily for a moment, his hands dripped with his own blood.

This was her end.

General Brokka, in his golden fury, unleashed a roar that rattled the planet through and through. And instantly, he cut through the crust like paper, firing into the sky as if he were a golden comet. There was Celeria, fully aware of his presence, but in a state of utter surprise that she too wasn’t the only Super Saiyan on the block. Brokka suddenly outstretched a flat palm and kept his lowly inferior in his sights. Then, with a battle call he unleashed his own finishing attack:

“BIG BANG ATTACK!”

A searing white ball of ki fired from his grasp, instantly swelling to the size of a mountain as it collided with the Commander head on. Brokka then parried around his attack and drove his fist directly into Celeria’s face. Her cheek gashed and the wound spread like a fissure. Blood soaked his fist, and he watched her plummet back down towards the installation main hall. Then, quickly dodging out of the way of his finishing move, Brokka kicked the attack into space.

Before long, the General was back in pursuit of the Commander, who had seemingly been able to land on her feet in the centre of both Saiyan parties without issue. And as he fired back into the installation like a crazed asteroid, he caused the foundations of the ground to shatter and crumble. Suddenly, he landed opposite the Commander and they continued to engage in one on one combat. Both combatants were unable to subdue the other, they seemed perfectly matched. But as they continued to wrestle and trade blows, he noticed there was still a weakness she possessed that he did not. There, tucked neatly around her waist whilst they battled, was her tail. An eye for an eye, Brokka thought with a revealing grin. It was going to be more like a thousand eyes!

Suddenly, in an attempt to scatter Celeria’s senses, the General drove both of his palms into her temples. She only waned for a second, swaying in momentary confusion, but that was enough. Brokka thrust behind her back and gripped her tail with both hands. Then he enveloped her in a choke-hold and barked down her ear.

“I’m missing mine; I think I’ll have yours.” He grinned through gritted teeth.

Then with his full might, the General tore free Celeria’s tail from her flesh. It ripped like leather as he gripped it in both hands. Then, using her tail like a noose, he wrapped it around her neck and commenced strangling her. She didn’t gag or spit, she was too powerful for that, but he knew he was starving the pathetic bastard of air. This would be her end for depriving him of an heir; this would be her graveyard for daring to survive where he had laid her to rest.

As Brokka looked round at the surrounding faces, he saw the Doctor and his counterparts fuelled with rage, readying themselves to rush the General. If he had to take them on too, so be it. He would crush all resistance, and he would-

The force of Brokka’s assault was suddenly interrupted as an impossibly powerful green orb of energy shot him right in the back. His strength left him momentarily, and the Commander dived free, instantly reinitiating her battle pose. But the General, without appropriate preparation was unable to resist this mysterious attack, and he plummeted into the ground and through the rubble. For a moment, there was silence as the battle came to a crashing end. Only one word was spoken.

“Mother.”

This whole thing was whack, Cayenna thought to herself as her sister blasted off to fight the General. She quickly ran towards the gap in the wall and observed them disappear from view.

"So... taking bets now!" - she turned around jokingly.

"Your sister sure is huge, Cay!" - Chardok chimed in.

"Told you!" - she laughed merrily.

The guy with the white cape opposite Cayenna did not look nearly as amused.

"Okay, okay briefings. So, I have absolutely no idea why you guys are with with General Brokka, but he's kinda somewhat of a... What you'd call a bastard. And it's in all of our best interests that he dies here, now."

Cayenna laughed.

"Yep, as much of a bastard as they come! Packs a mean punch, though. I mean, what else do you need in a leader, right?" - she added as she approached him.

"And you're in for a surprise if you think that General Brokka will just lay down and die." - she clenched her fists and crossed her arms as she came even closer to the dark-haired young saiyan.

"That is MY sister and MY General. Anyone who's coward enough to get between them will have to go through me." - she was all up in Kale's face, but her expression was more mischievous than challenging.

"So who the hell are you guys, anyway? I'm Cayenna and that thing is Chardok." - she pointed at the shorter green-haired saiyan who was now thoroughly amused, interacting with the small icejin.

'Her sister?!" - the saiyan's eyes widened with surprise - "YOU are the Commander's sister?! And you're... hanging out with General Brokka? WHO WRITES THIS STUFF?!' He facepalmed. "Cayenna, help us. And... You, short man."

Cayenna grunted under her breath and she was all up in Kale's face once more.

"We're all that's left, and we have to stick together. Your sister - the Commander, wouldn't have told me to brief you if she didn't think so." - he insisted.

"I'm not "hanging out"!" - Cayenna spat. "I'm following bloody orders! As should you! If my sister wanted you lot involved, she would kick you face first into the General's armor."

"But we do have something in common. We're both grunts. And when our betters collide we sit tight and wait for the summons of the winner. We have no place in their fight."

The saiyan doctor scoffed and his brows furrowed with indignation.

"Hah, we may have some things in common, but in one regard we're totally different. I'll never 'sit tight' and wait for your sister to fall to Brokka. The moment I even get the scent that she's in trouble, I go in all ki blazing. Sit back, if you like, watch the fireworks. But I've never been one to sit on the sidelines and watch everything I know fall to pieces."

Cayenna's anger instantly sparked. These medical grunts knew nothing about military customs at all!

Meanwhile, Chardok poked Magma's globular head eagerly.

"Why don't you shine my head while you're poking and gorping at it, small one?" - the tiny icejin chimed.

"Hey Cayenna, look - it talks!" - Chardok laughed merrily, pointing at the shiny surface of Magma's head.

Suddenly, both Celeria and Brokka returned into view and they were both bathed in golden light, fighting each other like this was their last. Cayenna grinned happily.

The svelte saiyan woman next to the doctor stepped forward.

"They're back... And, they're both..."

"... Super Saiyan." - the doctor finished.

"See, I told you, this fight is far from over!" - she was proud to see her sister standing tall and her General holding up. She felt giddy with anticipation to see the outcome of the battle, grateful that she was able to witness such an epic fight firsthand.

They appeared evenly matched until Brokka feinted Celeria and tore off her tail. Cayenna instantly felt a chill run down her spine. She remembered how much pain went through her if anyone just gripped her tail. She found herself wondering why she had never wondered what happened to the General's tail. Well, he sure did answer her question.

At first, Celeria seemed unfazed but he then managed to wrap her tail around her neck and she went down on one knee, gripping the General's arms tightly. She has to get up, she must, Cayenna thought to herself as she clenched her fists angrily. She can't intervene, she has no place there. Celeria would be angry, Brokka would be furious, it was their fight, it was their right, it was-

Cayenna urged, almost as if to herself: "Get it through your thick skull that if she doesn't defeat him herself, she doesn't deserve to lead us! And if you interefere, she will be the one who is pissed! Can't you see that-"

"SHUT UP!" The doctor yelled out as he suddenly erupted into flames of ki.

"DAMN IT!" - Cayenna gritted her teeth and prepared to follow suit. It would take all of them to break up the two.

She powered up in an instant but as the two prepared to take off, they were stopped in their tracks by the sight of both of them being brushed away clean by a blast of energy. Cayenna stared blankly as she noticed a large figure approaching the injured Celeria out of the mist.

"Mother." - she heard him mutter.

"YOU!" - she pointed at Paragus. "Who the hell is THAT?!" - she pointed back at the approaching male, eyes wide with terror.

The attack of this guy had knocked off both Brokka and Celeria at the height of their power. Her gut instinct told her that the situation was about to get a whole lot worse.

Both General Brokka and Commander Celeria had exploded in a burst of fury the moment they had come into contact with one another. This wasn’t what Paragus had intended to happen. They weren’t supposed to butcher each other, they were supposed to fall before Broly, and pay for their part in Paragus’ exile. The old Saiyan sneered as both combatants flew out of the facility, leaving a gaping hole in the facility. He was going to summon Broly now, only he could make each of them pay for their indiscretions. Paragus reached into a compartment in his armour and retrieved the control device that wrapped around his hand. Then, using his will, he summoned his son.

Come here son, our enemies are assembled all in the one place. He could feel Broly concur, and he could sense his approach. Just a couple of moments now.

Paragus stayed out of the way as the support of both the General and Commander convened. They bickered like fools, each speculating about the outcome of the battle at hand. Little did they know, it would be nothing compared to what his son was about to demonstrate. In mere moments, all of the traitors would be choking in a pool of their own liquids, and Paragus would stand over them victorious.

Seconds later, the damned fools threatened to ruin everything. The old Saiyan rushed out of the way of ground zero, as a seemingly Super Saiyan Celeria and Brokka reengaged one another. How had such simple fools achieved the transformation reserved only for his son, the legend? No matter, Paragus thought, still they would be like ants to Broly. They continued to battle until the General placed the Commander in a chokehold, using her own tail to suffocate her. But, before he could strangle her, or she could break free, Broly finally intercepted.

----------

“Mother.” Broly said softly, just moments after blasting the aggressor away. He remembered her, he still saw images of her in his mind, holding him when he was just a babe. Broly walked towards the green haired woman, the sense of familiarity was like nothing he had experienced before. She had been the only one to quell the infernal crying; she had stopped the noise, and returned Broly to peace. She was his mother, he was certain. She appeared deterred, but the young Saiyan didn’t care. He reached out for her and touched her shoulder, she scrutinised his face, but all he could see was the mother that had comforted him looking back.

“It’s me mother, where have you been all this time?” Broly’s soft face remained vacant. He was not accustomed to emotion, in fact he couldn’t remember the last time he felt anything. But here, with the return of his mother he was beginning to feel again.

----------

Paragus took a step back in horror. What did he mean, mother? This traitorous fool who had condemned them to death was not his mother! What was Broly thinking? Had the neural device scrambled his mind already? The older Saiyan attempted to approach Broly to pry him apart from Celeria, but stopped dead in his tracks. No, he wouldn’t do that. In fact, he would use this development to his advantage.

One moment, Celeria and Brokka were gripped in intense struggle and then everything was a haze. She felt herself being choked, but she could hardly put up a struggle. She did her very best to feel for the arms strangling her and kept them at bay but the physical stress was nothing compared to the realization that she had lost her tail. She had lost the one true trademark of a saiyan warrior and Brokka was now using the legacy of her race to choke the life out of her.

Her legacy... was there anything left of it to begin with? Would it end with her? There was no time to ponder this. If anything, losing her tail gave her more momentum, she would have to-

Suddenly, both she and Brokka were blasted away from where they stood. Celeria quickly regained her footing and felt for the wound on her lower back. She looked at the blood stains on her gloves and tried her best to reign in her emotions that were now running rampant.

Then she noticed that someone was approaching her. A tall figure, unlike any she had ever seen before, he was even taller than Brokka.

"Mother." - she heard him whisper and her mind went blank.

What madness is this, she thought to herself.

It was then that the man fully emerged from the mist and she could get a good look at his face. It was another face she had last seen a long time ago.

"Broly..." - she whispered as she stood up straight and touched his face as he leaned in and held her shoulders. As her palm gently pressed against his cheek, she was alarmed by his vacant expression.

“It’s me mother, where have you been all this time?” - he pleaded. His expression remained unchanged, but she could see the emotion in his eyes.

"I slept, but Broly, I'm not-" - he cut her explanation short as he wrapped his arms around her and rested his head upon hers.

The beating of his massive heart pounded in her ears. She was injured and bleeding, but the warmth of his embrace was so intense that not only did it restore her strength - it alarmed her. There was no way that Broly could have thrown Brokka off like that in this state, even given his natural potential. Something was very, very wrong.

Celeria remembered the last conversation she had with King Vegeta, she remembered urging him not to kill Broly, trying to make him see reason. Reason which King Vegeta did not want to see. With some effort, she pried herself away from Broly's embrace and placed both palms on his cheeks, looking deeply into his eyes with scrutiny.

"Broly, what happened? How did you survive?" - she commanded in a low, but urging tone.

Celeria had sensed Paragus was hiding something. He brought them all here for a reason he kept to himself, although Celeria hoped that she could get the truth from his son.

Broly held onto his mother. Her skin was tattered and bruised but warm. As she once carried him, now he would carry her. He had survived the burning of worlds and the wrath of tyrants so that he would be reunited with her. He had no desire to throw any of this away now. Eventually, he pried himself away from Celeria, his, glazed eyes looked at her. She was confused, but confusion was alright. Broly spent most of his time in such a state, he could no longer think, not like he used to be able to. Something was different, and it had been different for a while. But he couldn’t quite put his finger on it; he couldn’t see what had changed. It just seemed that once there was more of him, and now there was less. But in his mother’s eyes he was finding himself. He finally panned his glance to his father who looked on in similar surprise.

“I saved father from our planet’s destruction mother. I would have saved you too, if I were able. But I couldn’t find you.” He gripped her wrist, this time his hold was unbreakable and imbued with considerable strength. “I will not make that mistake again. Now you have returned to us and Freeza is gone, we can return home.”

“Our home is gone, Broly.” Paragus barked. “Taken from us by a tyrant, don’t forget that.” Paragus moved towards his son, he was much shorter and less imposing but was still able to command his respect. “But it wasn’t just Freeza that betrayed us, was it?” Paragus’ gruff brow raised.

“No. King Vegeta condemned us to death... Father has told me of his deceit. I would crush him if he still lived mother.” Broly gripped Celeria’s wrist tighter, his innocent face taking on an almost alien feature of aggression.

“King Vegeta could not see reason. I tried to stop him, but I failed. I’m sorry Broly.” His mother confessed with regret, her eyes warming him as she spoke.

“Of course you tried mother, but you no longer have to try. I remember how you held me as a child. I remember your touch...”

“Broly. Enough!” Paragus shouted, his son instantly froze. “Yes Broly, this is your mother. Celeria is your mother and she condemned you to death as a child. She never cared for you son, she wanted you out of the way.” Paragus outstretched his hand and the small control device began to illuminate. Suddenly the counterpart on Broly’s head also ignited.

“What... No, that’s not possible!” Broly continued to grip Celeria by the hand and with his free hand he gripped at his beating head. “She is my mother, she would never-“

“She betrayed you son. She wanted you out the way so that she could... Give her affections to General Brokka. Don’t you see? It was their idea to have us killed all along. You must kill her!” Before the Commander could turn to silence Paragus, he had already assumed control of his son’s body. Now he flooded his mind with the thoughts that he deigned fit for Broly. His son would not sympathise with those that had sentenced them to death, he would rather see Broly burn than him kneel before these traitors.

Eventually, with the sensation of being overwhelmed, the black haired boy screamed out in agony, his body levitated, and a green field of energy burst around his being. Suddenly, the power was so fast that it sent Celeria plummeting to the ground and into a heap of rubble. The other Saiyans also stumbled, vying to remain on their feet. In seconds, the boy with the black hair was no more. Instead he ignited in a golden/green hue. His body size increased by the second and his power level jumped higher and higher until it broke every boundary.

Broly, the seemingly innocent Saiyan boy no longer screamed; he laughed. His laughter was filled with menace and venom as he ascended higher and higher into the air. Soon he broke through the facility, and appeared like a burning green star in the sky.

Celeria found it increasingly difficult to believe this impossible situation. The way the events progressed from one to another was surreal, she could not make heads or tails of the situation and she could definitely not believe what she was hearing. First, for one reason or another, Broly was insistent in his belief that Celeria was his mother. Furthermore, Broly was just a child when Frieza had detonated their home planet. The thought that a mere child would be able to not only withstand the tremendous power of Frieza's attack but also shield his father from it too was mind-boggling.

The tenderness with which he spoke to her left the hardened warrior completely disarmed. The voice of this fearsome young man was filled with nothing but a childlike innocence. Celeria found it almost saddening that she would have to inform him of the truth. She did not know who put these thoughts in his head but she could not bear to let him live in this lie.

"Broly..." - she spoke to him softly as he gripped her hand with unbelievable strength. He did not press down on her, but Celeria was becoming disconcerted by the fact that she could not move a muscle.

"I remember how you held me as a child. I remember your touch...” - he mumbled under his warm breath. Celeria had remembered her own two sons and their death. The tone of his voice struck a chord and she mused on his words, temporarily forgetting about his unbreakable grip on her wrist and instead, remembering too the time when she held his tiny body in her massive arms. The boy looked very deeply troubled and Celeria sighed heavily at her apparent powerlessness to help him.

It was then that Paragus broke their reverie in the most disturbing way possible.

“Yes Broly, this is your mother. Celeria is your mother and she condemned you to death as a child. She never cared for you son, she wanted you out of the way.”

"You... you are completely mad." - Celeria stared down at Paragus in utter disbelief at what she was hearing, as Broly tightened his grip on her. As she scrutinized Paragus, he seemed to be holding some sort of device on his hand, a device designed in similar fashion to the golden adornments Broly was wearing. When the device in his palm flared in accordance with the gem on Broly's crown and the boy began screaming in agony, Celeria instantly transformed, trying to break Broly's hold but to no avail. The realization that she could not break free from him even in a transformed state began filling her with terror. And then, Paragus only added fuel to the fire.

“She betrayed you son. She wanted you out the way so that she could... Give her affections to General Brokka. Don’t you see? It was their idea to have us killed all along. You must kill her!” - he yelled zealously, gripping the contraption in his palm.

"YOU! HOW DARE YOU!" - Celeria snarled as she erupted in a torrent of violent golden energy, her radiant ki sparking into thin forks of lighting from her enraged eyes. To say that she was outraged would be a grave understatement. This was probably the single worst thing anyone had ever said about Celeria in her presence. Although she did not know what Paragus meant by "affection", the mere speculation of her turning her back on a fellow saiyan warrior for the sake of General Brokka was sickening in any respect.

Speaking of Brokka, he had not gotten up for minutes now. For a moment, Celeria considered the worst. If Broly indeed possessed the power to floor Brokka so utterly and maybe even kill him, what could he stand to do to the rest of them?

Broly's agony peaked as his cries became louder and more desperate.

"COWARD!" - She roared at Paragus, disgusted at the way he tortured his son. "RELEASE HIM THIS INSTANT!"- she demanded, now furiously attempting to tear herself away from Broly, whose power was mounting exponentially.

As Broly exploded in a massive wave of energy, he suddenly released her hand and Celeria plummeted into the ground under the weight of the massive aftershock of Broly's colossal power, smashing the soil beneath her into a crater with the sheer force of the impact. His screaming thundered in her ears and Celeria's adrenaline instantly peaked as the screams transmuted into a sickening laughter, more sinister than any laughter she had ever heard before. She sat up in the rubble, looking up at Broly whose menacing light loomed over them ominously. Her eyes then went to the direction where Brokka went down, he still wasn't getting up. This was bad and getting worse by the second.

Celeria jumped to her feet and made her way towards Paragus. She had to stop him and she had to do it now.

Chardok patted Magma on... his (hers? its?) shiny head "Hey, kid, can you help me with something? Whoever wins takes over, right? And after a good scrap, everyone will be hungry... So, whaddaya say we make a nice barbecue, you and I, you being the grill, that is..."

"Haha, only if you agree to be the chopping board, vagrant!" Magma jumped away, blasting Chardok with a spout of flames and smoke.

"Why, you little-OUCH!" Chardok jumped away, blowing on his seared fingers. Flexing his muscles, he crouched, getting ready to pounce at the Ice-jin. "I oughta-OOOH!" At the sight of Brokka tearing off Celeria's tail, he inhaled loudly through his teeth. "That must hurt like hell!", he said, his teeth still clenched. Unconsciously, he wrapped his own tail tighter around his waist.

As Celeria struggled to breathe under Brokka's chokehold, Chardok turned to see Cayenna arguing with Kale. "Dumbasses, it's not about who wins, it's about being Super Saiyan. I couldn't care less if I follow Brokka or Celeria (although Celeria might keep us all alive longer, he thought. Also, damn hot, right?), as long as I have the chance to become THAT powerful! And I bet I'll do it before all of you blabbermouths!"

As his words got lost in the din of the battle, Chardok started gathering his own power. "Might as well be ready. One way or the other, fight or flight, Brokka or Celeria, all's good, as long as you're able to munch on something afterwards".

"SHUT UP!" "DAMN IT!" - Cayenna and the doctor got drawn in their own little battle. Chardok turned to Magma, rubbing his hands together and cracking his massive neck: "Heh, heh, listen kiddo, if I punch your loud friend here to impress my lady friend, you won't hold it against me, will you?"

Not waiting to hear an answer from Magma, Chardok launched himself at Kale's back. At that instant, the world exploded. Tumbling head over heels, Chardok was thrown away from the glowing green guy ("Damn! He's massive!", he thought) along with Cayenna, Kale, Magma and a substantial portion of local rocks, trees and dirt. "Damn! So close! I had him!"

As he peeked above the crest of the newly formed crater, Chardok let out a low whistle. "Yo, Cayana, look at that! Your sister is that guy's mom! And that creep is his dad? Was she drunk or something? I hope you appreciate more... down to earth guys... you know..."

Cayenna had barely managed to hold her ground when the aftershock of the blast that was meant for Brokka exploded. She buried her feet in the marble floor of the chamber that had largely been reduced to rubble after Brokka and Celeria's confrontation. The old creep she was talking to was nowhere to be seen. Slowly, one after another, several heads poked out of the rubble. First the doctor and the other woman and then Chardok and his little alien friend.

Cayenna did her best to make sense of things through the fog of debris, which cleared to reveal Celeria embraced by a towering man, apparently around Cayenna's age. Although she could not see his tail, she had assumed he was a saiyan, too. Just what the hell is going on here?! She thought to herself, gritting her teeth with anxiety. And where was the General, she thought as she looked around. This newcomer couldn't have killed him with one blast, it was impossible! Damn it! She grunted as she lurched forward, clenching her fists tightly.

"Yo, Cayana, look at that! Your sister is that guy's mom! And that creep is his dad? Was she drunk or something? I hope you appreciate more... down to earth guys... you know..." - She heard Chardok mumbling.

"Shut up, you idiot!" - she barked at him. "I don't know who the hell that guy is but I know he ain't no son of Celeria. I have no idea what the shit is going on here!" - she growled furiously.

Then she heard the old guy yelling.

“She betrayed you son. She wanted you out the way so that she could... Give her affections to General Brokka. Don’t you see? It was their idea to have us killed all along. You must kill her!”

Cayenna choked on her breath and coughed: "THE HECK?!"

Her expression was a mixture of suppressed roaring laughter and sheer disbelief. Celeria? The mother of THAT guy? No wait, Celeria - affectionate?! Ok, now she knew this guy was full of bullshit.

To make matters worse, the creepy young dude started screaming and then laughing at the top of his lungs in a way that made Cayenna's hair stand on end. Shit, shit, shit.

"Stay sharp, you lot. Things are about to get ugly!" - she said, powering up and tensing her muscles instantly. In the next few moments, it was as if they all held their breath in anticipation of what is to come.

Kale’s mind was awash with emotion. The sight of Celeria being forced into submission by Brokka was an all too familiar reminder of what had transpired in the past. The Doctor was about to screw it all and throw caution to the wind, he didn’t care if the General was infinitely more powerful than him, just as he never cared when he had confronted Freeza. Unlike Cayenna, Kale knew that there was more to life than waiting on the sidelines, and he wouldn’t stand idly by while his Commander was throttled. He was about to dive into the fray of action, hopefully catching Brokka off guard, when suddenly the tyrannical General was expelled by an impossible bulb of green energy. The force of the blast, although obviously intended for Brokka, had a powerful after-kick that sent the majority of the team tumbling to the floor. Thankfully for Kale, he had been trained by the best, and managed to keep his footing. But as he cast his vision to the new aggressor, he was surprised by his overall poise.

The following moments transpired like a blur. Thoughts jumped through the Doctor’s mind as he contemplated what type of overwhelming strength would be necessary to subdue a new and improved Super Saiyan Brokka. Surely this stranger was a friend; after all, an enemy of Brokka’s was alright in Kale’s books. But as his internal speculation continued, the Doctor heard something rather peculiar. This Saiyan named Broly claimed that Celeria was his mother! That couldn’t be true, could it? Of course, she appeared to know who Paragus was when they entered the facility, but there hadn’t been any chemistry between them. Did Celeria even do chemistry? Kale shook his head as the conversation continued. Both Broly and the Commander held one another in an embrace, the tension in that moment was palpable.

Suddenly it all came to an end. Paragus began to rant about betrayal, and how Celeria and Brokka had been the source of their exile. No! This was nothing but deceit, all of it. The Doctor had been right to advise Celeria against coming to this desolate place, it had been an obvious trap. And now Paragus spun lies and used a control device to turn this powerhouse, who had cast Brokka aside with the merest flick of his ki, against the entire group. Kale’s fists clenched and his energy burst around him once again. This was bad – even worse than when they’d stood against King Cold and Cooler. But by damn he would fight until he dropped. They’d already defied unthinkable odds to get to where they were now, what was just one more overpowered adversary?

“Keyla, Magma, get ready. This only gets uglier and uglier from here out.” The Doctor muttered as he assumed the proper fighting form.

Kale was quickly unnerved however, as Broly suddenly tripled in size and his jet-black hair spiked into a tainted colour of green/gold. The Doctor’s eyes widened so much so that he was afraid they’d fall out of their sockets. When he’d first arrived on this world, he had sensed an incredible ki; that ki was vast and encompassing, and nearly made him wretch. It had been Brokka that he had detected, with all his torrents of power. That power, however, paled in comparison to what the Doctor was sensing now. Kale’s jaw fell wide open and he took an unintended step back. It wasn’t possible; Broly wasn’t possible! He felt like an abyss, as if the entire energy of the universe had been swallowed into a singularity, and that singularity was about to explode! It was as if there was no end to the power, and it was maddening.

“Physician!” Magma called out to Kale. The Small Icejin jumped off of Chardok’s strewn body and landed next to Kale. “You sense it too, yes? A maelstrom of energy - the likes of which have never been felt before.”

“...That’s one way of explaining it.” A shudder ran through the entirety of the Doctor, and he searched for Keyla’s reassuring presence. She was beside him, like always.

“I don’t need to sense energy to see that that thing’s a damned monster.” She clenched her fists and crouched into a battle stance. “Live or die the only way out of here is through those guys. Let's take it one madman at a time.” She sharply nodded.

Suddenly, Broly levitated higher and higher into the air, his energy growing all the more as he ascended. It was incomparable, and Kale didn’t know what would happen next. Suddenly Celeria approached Paragus, who began raving like a zealous lunatic.

“Yes, Commander Celeria. Wallow in dread at the overwhelming power of my son.” Paragus grinned and a sinister laugh escaped through his crooked mouth. He held up the control device strapped to his hand and further willed Broly to grow in strength. Their enemies were finally here, and now was the time for his son to wreak havoc on them. They had waited for too long, and seethed in their own rage. Now was the time to unleash the fury!

“Have you figured it out yet – do you know what Broly is? He is the one true legend. He and he alone was born to be the Legendary Super Saiyan, a being that is birthed only once every thousand years. Unlike you and I who grow weary with time and battle, Broly only continues to grow in strength. There is no limit to his ki, he cannot be stopped once he unleashes his true power.” Paragus laughed in Celeria’s face as she walked menacingly towards him. There was nothing she or anybody else could do. Broly had already killed General Brokka and he would dispose of the others just as easily. “The more you fight him the weaker you will grow and the stronger he will become. It is hopeless, Commander. Now lament in that hopelessness, and let it tear you apart as you tried to tear me apart.” He continued to cackle. “And the only one that can stop Broly is me! Only I can control him with thi-“

Paragus was suddenly cut short as the ground tore open. What happened next was unexpected.

The ground ruptured in two with the torrential force of utter strength. Suddenly, out of nowhere, the reconstituted Super Saiyan Brokka dived out of the fissured floor and loomed over Paragus in excruciating silence. His fiery golden aura now burst around him in torrents of unkempt power, and his glowing emerald glare burnt through Paragus’ skull relentlessly. Suddenly, Brokka wielded his flat fingers like a titanium blade, thrusting them all the way through the coward’s gut. He ripped Paragus’ innards apart, organ by organ, until his hand came out of the other end. The fool gripped at Brokka’s arm, scrambling to free himself from the clutches of death, but it was already too late.

Brokka glared into the waning eye of the pathetic creature before him. He watched, ever vigilant, as the life and energy drained from his old scarred and haggard face. Slowly, Paragus began to gargle, and then he began to spit. His wound, and Brokka’s hand, ran red with a river of blood as the old Saiyan coward seeped dry of his life bringing juices. Then, without shifting his unremitting gaze, the General withdrew his hand, ruining Paragus’ organs all over again. The bastard remained upright for a second, trying to form words, no doubt so that he could plea or bargain for his survival. But Brokka had already signed the pathetic coward’s death warrant. Paragus dropped to the rubble filled ground as a dying old man, and landed as a corpse. The General, all the while, never faulted as he watched the life extinguish from the fool’s eyes. This was just the beginning of Brokka’s retribution.

Suddenly, as Paragus’ cold body flailed on the rocks, the control device that had been attached to his hand came free. The small, golden device skipped across the ground, rolling over debris and crevices until it stopped at Celeria’s feet. The General’s eyes trailed the device, and as it clinkered at the Commander’s heel, his vision panned upward until he met her eye to eye. He had heard the whole transaction, and Paragus’ spineless plan had become clear to him. Controlling a warrior of this Broly’s potential with such a crude device was an act of pure cowardice. Brokka was disgusted. No Saiyan, be it abomination or not, should have to live in the clutches of control. It was only right that Broly would be freed, and then he would be annihilated.

Brokka and Celeria continued to stare into one another. In that moment, for the first time in 30 years, they both agreed on what happened next.
