PostSubject: The Reckoning.   The Reckoning. I_icon_minitimeFri Jan 10, 2014 2:17 pm

Celeria opened her eyes to the whiteness of the ceiling, illuminated only by a dim emergency light that filled the chamber. Slowly, she rose into a seated position. It occurred to her that she had never gone on a mission where she was sure she would die. She had come close, however, back in the day. For a moment, she recalled the battle on Daris and going all out. The only reasons she survived was because her squad had brought her to safety. But who would bring the saiyans to safety now?

She got off the bed, her bare feet touching down upon the cold metal floor. Mechanically, she headed for the grooming cubicle and splashed her face with cold water several times. She had a shower, ate a few protein bars and polished her armor, putting it on a few minutes later. Soon enough, she was seated at her console, going over the mission protocols, looking for anything she might have missed. For a moment, she thought back to the conversation she had several days ago.

It occurred to her that whoever informed her of Frieza's whereabouts must have some connection to the overlord's grand scheme of things. And if they were kind enough to inform her, Celeria figured they might be of even more use. The conversation was odd, but ended with a favorable promise on part of the stranger that he would do his best to tip the scales in their favor once the battle took place. Admittedly, Celeria didn't give much thought to it. Not only did she question the efficacy of the stranger's prospective action, she questioned whether they would survive long enough for any prospective actions to be viable.

Realizing she had covered everything, she rose from her desk and made way to the door. She took one long last look at her room. Although she spent great amounts of time within those four walls, it looked as though no one had ever set foot in it. For a moment, Celeria considered whether her impact on her race and its history would be as prominent as her impact on this room. Turning on her heel, she finally exited, the door sliding shut behind her.

With slow and heavy steps, she made her way to a side corridor and exited through a hatch, rather than through the main entrance, immediately blasting off to the predicted landing site. At this point, every remaining saiyan on the colony had been awakened. The original plan which involved the majority of the colony safely leaving the planet suddenly appeared in her mind. But the General had not only taken their lives, but had also taken their ship, dooming every saiyan on the colony to certain death. Celeria's blood boiled in an instant and her energy formed around her in violent silver flames, as she went from a calm glide to cutting the very air she flew through.

She reached the rendezvous point and let herself free fall, stopping in the air only inches from the ground, landing softly and gracefully on the soil below. The Commander was silent and motionless, like the cold stone statues that adorned royal palaces throughout the universe. She kept her gaze fixed on the horizon, awaiting for the rest of the colony to join her in meeting near-certain death head on and blazing with might, as was the saiyan way.

Kale knew day-in day-out that when his bed-side light illuminated it meant it was time for him to get up. Furthermore, he knew that when his personal computer chirped at him from across the room, there was a personal message waiting for him. These clues led to outcomes that were certain, perfectly certain in fact. But, when the red bulb on his ceiling flashed, and emitted a droning warning siren, Kale got the message, but could not predict the outcome.

This day had been the day the doctor had feared for months. Today was the day they had all prepared for. Most likely this was the day of Kale's death, and everybody else that remained that he still cared for. More unlikely was the possibility that the bulb on his ceiling heralded the first sign of victory, and the day that the Saiyan race in its small entirety was about to be finally freed. It was unlikely, and perhaps even delusional, but the doctor now had something he'd never had before; something that could tip the balance, he had the Commander.

"Doctor, it's time. Pull yourself together, remember the rendezvous point. Keyla out." The message screamed at him from his bed-side desk from his small scouter. Quickly the doctor snatched the device and attached it to his ear. If he was going to fight for his life, he'd at least do so having some semblance of a warrior.

"And this is it..." He said, stretching his durable Saiyan armour over his shoulders and releasing it onto his torso. "So I'm finally gonna get to meet Freeza, huh?" He fixed his long doctoral cape onto his shoulder blades before breaking free of his doorway and catapulting into the air. "I hope he's green, I've always liked the colour green." He mumbled to himself, as he quickly approached the rendezvous point.

The large saucer shaped vessel churned and bellowed as it nose-dived into the atmosphere of Planet-2814. The troops lined the bridge and the hallways of the PTO flagship, and in the middle of the command centre, looking out at the view screen and the puny planet below, was King Cold and Prince Freeza. The months had passed with a cumbersome crawl, and the anticipation of destruction had gnawed away at father and son alike, often threatening their calm and eloquent disposition, but finally patience had paid off. They had arrived, and it was time to butcher the shameless monkey scum that had been responsible for Freeza's defilement.

King Cold grinned malignantly, his lips were long, black and thinned as they extended from cheekbone to cheekbone. Outwardly he appeared excited and amused, but inside of himself, he seethed with the rage that only an Icejin could muster. He was the King of all, the master of the known universe, and these primitive creatures had dared to challenge him and his heir. Today father and son would bleed an entire race dry, and furthermore, Freeza would finally complete the genocide that he had begun twenty years previously. Cold was rampant with blood-lust, it had been months since he had feasted on the charred remains of his family's foolish adversaries. Of course he would allow Freeza the majority of the fun, but he would not stand by in complete complacence. Heads would roll, or perhaps more appropriately, tails would spin.

"Sire, initiating landing sequence. The troops are mobilised, and we act in the honour of the Planet Trade Organisation." The Commander saluted and bowed subserviently.

King Cold chortled, but his grin fell away. "Very good Commander, always the reliable servant."

The Commander continued, "L-Lord Freeza, how should we proceed in your honour? We are yours my lord, how may we ingratiate you?" The Commander fell to one knee.

Cold's grin returned. Freeza had not lost an iota of his authority, it very nearly warmed the King's ice cold heart to see the slaves adoring his son. They would bathe in the blood of their enemies in no time now, it was all far too exhilarating.

As the saucer crept into the barren atmosphere of Delta NW-74, he felt his pulse rise as the blood rushed through his veins, both natural and synthetic. He would again experience the elation of destroying an entire race. Now, the stakes were even higher, as these mongrels got a taste of actual hope. Smothering it out of them would prove a unique pleasure.

He grunted slightly at the unnecessary delay - his father always insisted on over-the-top entrances. Frieza, he was, well now... he was just keen on getting things started. He decided to disregard decorum in favor of a burning hunger that demanded to be sated.

"Just get out of my way." - He hissed as he gestured the commander away, as the pesky insect that he was. They all were. In recollection, the overlord found he was quite satisfied to have an army of rabid beasts back in the day. It was certainly more imposing than the laughable lifeforms that were in his father's employ. Making a mental note to devote some time to a formation of a new and more powerful special forces group, he quickly turned on his heel and went towards the main exit. Unwilling to take the time to walk through the corridors, he left the ship through an opening in the ceiling, his father hovering rather sluggishly in stride. Their entire entourage exited with them, a large battalion of warriors of all shapes and sizes.

His eyes searched keenly for the slightest sign of his prey and finally, a strong green hue pierced the surrounding darkness. It wasn't long before he beheld the saiyan female, the Commander whom he knew well. The she-beast that refused to die. As the overlord, his father and the warriors landed some distance away from the saiyan band, he took the time to scrutinize the surroundings.

Merely two dozen saiyans awaited on the other side. These monkeys really werethat daft.

"My dear Commander Celeria. How unfortunate that our very first meeting has to occur in such an utterly drab surroundings." - He chuckled under his breath before continuing.

"I had honestly expected a warmer welcome. Apparently, hospitality isn't your strong side, is it Commander, hmm?" He focused his burning red eyes on the female and then slowly went over those that stood with her. An unlikely bunch of rejects. Just what was this fool glaring over?

"No matter. I will be as generous as to provide a very warm and striking redecoration."

The overlord was so keen to sink into their flesh, he could feel it snapping between his fingers. Soon, very soon. Baiting was the best part, after all.

"Doctor! Just in time." Grape shouted as he waved Kale down towards the rendezvous point. Everybody was there, Grape, Keyla, Celeria, Mokra, Espara... Every Saiyan waited proudly in the barren open land of the planet. Kale descended quickly, his cape billowed as he reached the ground. He smiled nervously, and Keyla caught his gesture.

"You ready?" She said calmly. The doctor looked at Keyla and then towards Celeria. The Commander was distracted, her eyes were fixed on the skies.

"As ready as a mouse about to spring a trap, yeah. Who knows what to expect..." He winked in Keyla's direction, similarly she smiled and playfullyvformed a first and lightly smacked Kale's shoulder.

"Save the humour until after we kick Freeza's ass." She clenched both fists and directed her gaze towards the stratosphere.

"Freeza's ass? Heh, I could think of a few puns just from that." Kale's smile faded but his sense of confidence remained. This was the end, but of what? He wasn't sure. There was a surreal sense of calmness that lingered in the moments before something so cataclysmic, and he found it difficult to explain. Maybe this was his psyche giving him one small mercy, or perhaps simply he was just past fear at this point. Either way, he was ready and so were his comrades.

The world screeched as the clouds parted and made way for a massive imposing saucer. Its speed was unreal, and within moments it was in hundreds of feet of the Saiyans.

"Shame really." Kale whispered to Keyla. "We never did get to give this planet a real name..." Both of his fists clenched and he felt his energy level rising. His scouter similarly picked up multiple readings as droves of drones flooded out of the capital ship and covered the open sky until shade fell over the group. Freeza had brought a large welcoming party, they were in for a huge battle!

The doctor assumed a battle stance and his awareness picked up, he looked momentarily from left to right and saw his comrades similarly prepared. But his next sight was the most horrific of all. Emerging suddenly was a metal-clad creature, smooth from head to toe and no larger than 5 feet. The lean cyborg glided past the drones and stopped just metres of the Saiyans.

It's not possible... Kale's breath sucked from his lungs as he placed his sights on the unthinkable. That was Freeza, and in that moment he was more certain than anybody! But Zeltra destroyed that, she gave her life to do it!. Freeza was now a cyborg, upgraded with cutting edge PTO technology! Zeltra had sacrificed herself to destroy that body suit when they had both found it in a top secret installation, during its prototype stage years ago. Kale fell lightly onto his heels, as he struggled to regain his cool. Freeza was worse than he had imagined, he was an abomination! Even after the doctor had lost Zeltra... After she had sacrificed everything to stop the tyrant from ever acquiring these augmentations, he had still managed to win. Maybe this was Freeza's birthright, maybe this was what he was constantly capable of? Finally the cyborg tyrant spoke, but Kale was too infuriated to drink up all of his words.

Freeza appeared to be acquainted with Celeria, this was no surprise. Celeria and Brokka had worked together previously on PTO assignments, the doctor had already been informed of that. Of course Freeza had some knowledge of Celeria. Whilst this was quite surprising, even more so was the sudden revelation that there was another immensely powerful being with the overlord. Quickly following Freeza was a gigantic humanoid of the same species. This one was over 7 feet easily, and he had gigantic protruding horns and a flowing cape. This wasn't possible! Kale had always thought Freeza was in this business alone, who was that? And furthermore, if after all this time the overlord was still surprising them, what more was to come?

Cold hovered out of his ship and breathed in the cold fresh air of a soon-to-die world. He grinned as he looked upon the horde of monkeys as they clung to each other for protection. They were simple mongrels of course, and could not grasp that a large collection of primates was a far easier target than scattered ones. As the King approached his son, he became aware of one monkey in specific.

Ah, the peculiar haired one. She will die first... Or perhaps even last. Decisions... decisions. As Freeza concluded his sentimental speech, King Cold raised his index finger to his lips and chortled uncontrollably. This all looked far too pathetic! They had been hulled up for 3 months for this? Had Freeza become delirious in his new condition? What had Cold's amplifications done? They should have really chased the main source of the issue, the Saiyan who had brought Freeza to near death in the first place. He realised now that it was a waste of their time being here, surrounded by these weakling monkeys. But of course, the King would allow his son to play with his toys, he always did have a soft spot for Freeza's eccentricities.

"Perhaps I can break this awkward stand-off?" He placed out a finger and pointed it at the culmination of money scum. "Troops, destroy them." Within seconds the ground troops were upon the Saiyans. This would be a true test of their mettle, if the Saiyans were truly worthy adversaries and could survive this, then perhaps they would gain a personal audience with the rulers of the known galaxy.

Although her face remained a stern grimace of solid composure, Celeria was quite surprised to see Frieza in such a state. She had indeed seen him before, but only on surveillance footage. But even so, he seemed a great deal more... organic. Perhaps there was truth to the data she and the doctor had recovered. Perhaps someone had reduced him to this state. Celeria herself had been personally acquainted only with Frieza's brother Cooler. Thus, she deduced that the towering behemoth must be the one that spawned the two wretches into this universe, King Cold himself.

This was troublesome, Celeria thought to herself as Frieza began his condescending rant. He must have intended to goad her with such verbiage, but Celeria had spent more than sufficient time with the General to develop an immunity to such self-gratifying nonsense. The Commander took a deep breath and exhaled, unlocking her crossed arms and relaxed them at her sides, flexing her fingers as she had done so.

Cold ordered a full-frontal assault. Apparently, he wasn't as keen on dramatic pauses as his son. Celeria took a moment to scrutinize the advancing troops. Meat puppets, nothing more. From the looks of it, these poor grunts were even weaker than the ones who served in Frieza's employ two decades ago. Seeing them advancing with such fervor left a bitter taste in the Commander's mouth. There was no satisfaction to be gained from killing them. But if it will free them of Frieza and their own blindness, then Celeria would extend her kindness to these aliens.

Most had scattered about, already attacking the soldiers behind her. She noticed that an entire unit seemed to have formed in front of her, lasers locked. As she closed her eyes, a barrage of beams fell upon her, but to no avail. She did not even have to bother putting up a barrier, the beams bounced off the natural ki field she emanated. It did not take long for her attackers to realize something is definitely amiss.

For a moment, Celeria considered how she should approach the matter. Within a second, she decided that she would keep her powers at bay. The more surprises she had up her sleeve, the better. As the haze began to clear, Celeria dashed at the group in front of her. One by one, she felled each of them with one precise hit. As their lifeless bodies fell to the ground, Celeria was back in position, her eyes locked on her adversaries. If they intended to meddle in this fight in any way, she had to be ready to intervene.

"Unreal." Keyla uttered through a rushed breath. "Freeza's power level... It's... And the taller one... I-" The larger Icejin ordered the grunts to attack. Kale instantly dropped into an offensive posture as a dozen or so weak troops descended towards him. They didn't deserve his full attention, their individual power levels were pitiful, as the overlord's men and women had always been. Seldom did a troop exceed the 2,000 mark, the doctor was fully able to make quick work of them. But as he momentarily diverted his attention to Freeza and his... 'friend', the energy reading spiked, and to Kale's astonishment it exceeded 1 million!

Three armour clad troops pursued the doctor in a frontal assault, and without breaking a sweat he extended a foot and dispatched them all with a single roundhouse kick. As a further five troops approached, Kale used his super speed to zip past each troop, delivering crippling blows to the gut and back of the neck as he passed them. The final few lunged at him, this time cautiously. They knew they were about to meet their end, and the doctor somewhat pitied them. Being schooled by a physician, what an absolute embarrassment! By the count of 3 all of the soldiers that had approached Kale were lying face down in their own juices. His training had truly paid off.

It took Keyla, Grape and the others a similar amount of time to devastate the grunts, until finally no ground troops remained. "Too easy..." Kale muttered as if he'd done nothing more than assembled a wooden box. But his main concern was what his scouter was picking up from the two behemoths before them. He wasn't a fool, and he certainly couldn't be tricked so easily. His scouter had indeed read over 1 million, but perhaps even more disconcertingly, the doctor knew that this was just the tip of the iceberg. He had nothing up his sleeves but a single trick, and that was to aim for the eyes.

As her soldiers made quick work of Frieza's meager force, Celeria felt more apprehensive by the second. Frieza brought a minor squadron and nothing more. These feeble opponents were no doubt his way to mock them. He didn't need anything or anyone to defeat them and Celeria was likely to agree with the opinion. But at the moment, she could afford no such realism. It was important to remain steadfast. Moreover, they had no other choice and the commander didn't feel like departing this world with fear in her eyes.

As the last few bodies fell to the ground, a chilling silence ensued. While Frieza and King Cold looked down upon them maliciously, with grins from ear to ear, the saiyan army was not too keen to advance, for once. The overlord waited with eager eyes for one of them to move, for one of them to even take a deep enough breath. His expression was a dead giveaway of all the physical pleasantries he had in store for them. But Celeria had her plan, her own tactic and it would take a lot more to get her to stray from it.

The fear in the hearts of her men was so strong, it was almost palpable. She could barely follow their breathing. Without a second thought, she clenched her right hand into a fist. As soon as she could make out the right angle of approach, she would give the command. But then, she thought to herself - was it really the angle that was preventing her from giving the order? Or was it something far more definite?

"Aren't you going to attack, then, Commander?"

The air in Celeria's lungs instantly vanished and she felt as if a noose tightened around her throat. The hushed voice sounded far too familiar Ā than she cared to remember and the shift of Frieza's expression from malicious contentment to a mixture of shock and outrage only solidified her conclusion. She could feel his slow and cold breath on the back of her neck. She wanted to turn around and face him, but the fact that he had crept behind her so flawlessly and the complete and utter disbelief at his presence alone kept her eyes fixed on the horizon. For the first time in her life, the commander did not have a plan.

"Lord Cooler..." were the only words that seeped through her slightly parted lips.

The Saiyan scum managed to make quick work of Cold's ground troops. This left the intergalactic overlord with a sense of surprise. He'd imagined that the monkey menace had been inflated by Freeza's tendency towards eccentrics, but it seemed that this small band of furry beasts was in fact capable of some minor combat prowess. King Cold chortled lightly and raised his index finger to conceal his grin. If he had had the convenience of time, then he would have been sure to enjoy these monkeys. Sadly they would have to die eminently, and if Freeza didn't oblige then he would have to destroy them all.

"Impressive... For apes. We've had our fun Freeza, let's be done with them and leave this rock. There are matters that require our attention on-" The King was cut short when he felt a shimmer in the surrounding atmosphere. Someone was utilising super-speed. Cold's gaze easily traced the distortion as it materialised in the centre of the Saiyan band. His smile instantly fell away in astonishment. What was he doing here? Cold had not summoned his second son!

"Cooler, my son." He eventually mumbled.

Freeza's lackeys were strewn across the floor around the small Saiyan unit. Kale knew that wasn't all that the overlord and his companion had to throw at them, that probably wasn't even the warm up. The doctor's eyes maintained an unwavering glare at Freeza, he didn't look as powerful as he must have been, that was for sure. His skin (or what was left of it) looked smooth, and surprisingly he had a younger man's face. The only addition that gave the overlord's status away was he mechanised body parts, which Kale and Zeltra had fought (and obviously failed) to destroy many years ago. How much more powerful was Freeza now anyway? Did he even have to engage any of them in physical combat to smash the whole team to pieces? And what of the other character? He looked far more imposing, and although looks could be deceiving, Kale could bet that he was packing a similar punch to Freeza.

"Why aren't they doing anything? I-Is the tall one c-chatting to Freeza? Really!?" The doctor sighed, it was as if these bastards weren't taking this seriously at all. They were all just toys to Freeza, and it infuriated him. His fists involuntarily clenched as his power level began to rise.

"Chill out." Said Keyla, who hung just behind him. "The less serious they take this the more likely we are to surpri-"

The air suddenly thinned and Kale's hair stood on end. A shiver traveled the length of his tail and spine until he felt the heat of another body directly behind him.

"Lord Cooler." Celeria with a hint of panic uttered.

Kale's peripheral vision saw only the figures of aliens he did not recognise. Who was Cooler? Was he another weapon of Freeza's? The situation was steadily declining.

Absolutely delightful, seeing that expression on his little brother's face. Biding his time indeed turned out to be the most satisfying option. He did not even have to wait that long. And now he was here and everything was unfolding exactly as he had planned.

He counted a little under two hundred warriors in the saiyan ranks, including those who were hidden. Why there were less than expected perplexed him, but he was sure to get to the bottom of it soon enough. First things came first and in this case, it was proving his tactical superiority over the rest of his family once more. And this might just be the prize, the greatest hit to his little brother's ego that he had ever managed to land. Just look at him... Cooler thought to himself, Verily, I think he might explode.

And sure enough, he did.

"Cooler! What are YOU doing here? I demand an explanation this instant!" - Frieza hissed.

He didn't bother to register his father's lukewarm greeting and instead kept quiet for a little longer than was necessary, wondering how long would it take little Frieza to forget all about tact.

"I DEMAND THAT YOU ANSWER ME IMMEDIATELY!"

Not very long.

Cooler took a step in front of Celeria, his long tail trailing behind him ominously, in chilling unison with the movement of his body.

With a cold and stern expression, in an even tone, Cooler began solemnly:

"I am here to claim my investment." - he explained. As he uttered these words, he raised his left hand to Celeria's face, cupping her chin in the palm of his hand and pressing his fingers into the soft flesh of her cheeks. He then slowly motioned her to face him, releasing her from his grip.

"Isn't that correct, Commander?" - he cracked a half-grin as he looked at her.

Before Celeria had a chance to respond, Frieza interjected furiously.

"What is this nonsensical drivel about, Cooler?! Just what are you playing at? This saiyan scum is MINE to deal with as I please, you have no part in it, brother."

"Oh, but I do, brother." - Cooler's gaze went back to Frieza.

"You see, before you decided to erase Planet Vegeta from existence, I had made a valid contract with the late King, ensuring the servitude of the commander here and all those who served under her." - he elaborated - "Though I admit, the number increased a great deal."

Cooler's enjoyment was somewhat hindered by Frieza's new and grotesque appearance. He would definitely look further into the matter. Whatever managed to rid his little brother of the better part of his body demanded an investigation. And his newly-acquired army would make the perfect tool to conduct it. However, Frieza's expression now contorted into a grimace of sheer outrage and Cooler realized he would have to bring out more concrete evidence. He gestured almost imperceptibly at one of his lackeys who then tapped their scouter a few times. King Cold's scouter blipped instantly.

"The contract file has been transmitted to you. Please, review it at your leisure, brother."

Cooler grinned from ear to ear, expecting and perhaps even truly hoping to elicit an enjoyable reaction out of his brother and perhaps his father, even.

What was this? A contract? Were such documents withstanding when the agreement had been made with the late King of a world that the PTO itself had destroyed? King Cold smirked, and suddenly his scouter illuminated informing him of the incoming file. How cunning of his eldest son, to follow them all this way just to claim Freeza's prize before he could strike. He must have prepared meticulously for this moment just to have intercepted all transmissions from Cold's capital ship, and then to have traced them here without becoming visible to their radar. This was impressive, most impressive indeed. Perhaps through the passage of years the King had simply underestimated Cooler.

Cold activated the file and reels of text scrolled down his small scouter screen. He had no interest in the specifics, and he was quite sure that such an agreement had been made between the late King Vegeta and Cooler. What interested him more so was what possible interest could these monkeys be to an Icejin of his son's calibre? Was this simply another move in the persisting game for power between Freeza and Cooler? If so then King Cold had little to be concerned about. Since they were both children, he had been fully aware that the only threat to his hegemony would be the combined forces of his sons against him. After everything he had achieved across the centuries to subjugate the known galaxy, King Cold could not let his supremacy fall, even to those he called family. As a result, Cold had created a rivalry between his sons, constantly throughout their youth he had pitted them against each other for his favour, and relentlessly he had perpetuated feelings of resentment and jealousy between the two. Now his beloved sons would never unite to challenge his rule, because they were too preoccupied fighting one another. This is how King Cold had stayed on top for so very long, the trick was to trust nobody, not even his dear children.

Or perhaps this was something more than a bitter rivalry with Freeza? Perhaps these Saiyans were actually of some use? He would strive to learn the details of this transaction, and perhaps in the process he would learn more about Cooler's recent withdrawal from intergalactic affairs.

"My, my." Cold giggled lightly. "What a turn of events this is. Cooler my son, Freeza will be quite dismayed to have his prize taken from him like this, after all he has waited so long to kill the monkeys responsible for damaging him so." Cold extended an arm towards his younger son who was seething in fury. He pointed at the mechanised prosthetics that now made up Freeza's form. No doubt if Cooler had been tracing his transmissions for so long, he would not be surprised to learn that Freeza was now cyborg. Not that he would particularly care, of course.

"Freeza withdraw, these monkeys have a master. A contract is a contract after all." He continued to chortle. Finally Cold descended from the sky and touched down on the rocky surface. His claws locked into the stone, causing tiny fissures in the crust.

"What will you do with these new toys my son? Be honest now, you are after all talking to your father..." He grinned maliciously.

"Contract?! What contract!? Who are these people?!" Kale's scouter hadn't even reacted to the arrival of the stranger. But as he gazed about the group he noticed that the monster stranding directly behind Celeria had a resemblance to Freeza and the taller stranger. It couldn't be, could it? Was it truly an entourage of Freeza's own race? It was over, surely. After a moment the taller one broke the silence, and complied with this contracted agreement. Were Kale and the others being sold? Celeria surely wouldn't tolerate this? This was insanity. This was not a Saiyan bargain sale!

"Quiet! Did you hear what the taller one said, he's their father..." Whispered Keyla through gritted teeth. "That can only mean one thing..." There was a slight trembling in her voice.

They were all family! All of this time Freeza had been part of a galactic hierarchy, and this trio must have represented the peak of it. Now this 'Cooler' was set to take command of the Saiyans again. Yes, it looked like they may survive if they complied, but to what end? The doctor's mother and father had died in Freeza's genocide. Hell, his entire world was just a stamp on his memory, deteriorating with the passage of time. Soon he wouldn't even remember what it was like to walk on the surface of Vegeta. If Cooler took charge of this colony now, each one of them would soon become a stamp too, and before long they'd be nothing.

No, he wasn't that man. He'd sooner die here than watch the last of his people fall into the shackles of slavery again. "I'm sorry Keyla, take care of yourself." Kale's teeth instinctively gritted together as his power level climbed rapidly to his limit of 414,000. He'd never been so strong, and even though he knew it wasn't strong enough, he'd go out with a bang. "FREEZA, YOU BASTARD! NO MORE!" His aura exploded around him, and he dived into the air towards the galactic overlord with his fists at the ready. What he did now he did without reservation. It was better to die in rebellion than to serve the bastards that had butchered his entire race.

Even though so much time had passed, Celeria had remembered the contract like it was struck yesterday. Not long after she became Commander, her team was summoned to King Vegeta's official chambers where they were informed that Lord Cooler, brother to Frieza has purchased Celeria and all those under her command for his service. Back then, it was just Celeria and her four squadmates. But now, the number was indeed much greater. Still, the contract stated "Commander Celeria and all those under her command..." And as it happened, this meant the entirety of the saiyan colony.

Celeria was unsure what Cooler would do with them or what would become of them after Frieza left, goaded by his father. Whatever it was, it gave them precious time. For each breath they managed to draw, they got closer to the necessary power to overthrow these pompous tyrants once and for all. Celeria resisted the urge to smirk. She disregarded Cooler's touch altogether. Now he too was a pawn on her strategy board.

And then she heard Kale screaming at Frieza and instantly felt her chest tighten. All she could think for the next split second was how he sacrificed them all without a second thought. She heard Frieza yelling back at him, but she could not make out the words. For a few instants, Celeria felt lost. Luckily, her keen instincts remained undeterred. In a detached, even tone, she spoke to Cooler.

"Lord Cooler, permission to rectify insurrection?" - she inquired.

"Granted." - Cooler muttered through a chuckle, no doubt amused by the name Kale was calling his brother.

Within an instant, Kale was stopped in mid-air, as if he was instantly frozen. Celeria kept his eyes upon him as he floated downwards until his feet touched the ground. The Commander took a few steps forward and made a courteous bow.

"Lord Cold, Lord Frieza and Lord Cooler, I apologize for this crassness. I will make sure he is disciplined accordingly."

She then stood up straight and turned around to face Kale, his face contorted in a grimace of anger, but his eyes betraying his apprehension and surprise at what was happening. Celeria had only recently mastered her telekinetic powers. She glared at him furiously, as angrily as she had stared down Brokka. In his cluelessness, he put all their lives on the line. He was bold enough to dare call the shots about who lives and who dies. And, for a moment, there was nothing Celeria wanted more than to punch a hole through his abdomen. She concentrated a massive amount energy around her fist as she drew her elbow back and raised her arm, staring the doctor dead in the eye. Without a word, she released all her power in one devastating hit, directly into the his gut. The aftershock from the blow rippled through the ground below.

As he fell to his knees, she released her kinetic grip on him and grabbed him by the collar, dragging him along the ground and throwing him to Cooler's feet.

"I humbly request that the noble Lord Cooler spare this fool. He will not be given a chance to insult you again."

"Insult me? Dear commander, that was quite a show. I can't vouch for my father and brother, but I assure you I enjoyed it thoroughly." - he smirked.

Within moments, Cooler's own vessel glided into view before descending somewhat further away. Cooler made a few steps forward before addressing his father.

"What I plan to do? Why, employ my new army, of course."

He then turned to instruct his armored squadron to escort the saiyans aboard the ship. Celeria looked into the eyes of the soldiers. They seemed confused, but most were starting to realize what was going on, realized they would live for a little while longer. And somehow, there was mutual understanding in the air - what all of them wanted more than anything was to live to fight another day.

"HAH! An army without a commander!"

Before Celeria could turn around, a bright red light pierced through chest and droplets of blood began to fall before she herself fell to the ground. It was all gone. She had failed. Her face hit the cold hard ground and she laid motionless. She felt herself falling down and endless hole, unable to fly or fight her way out of it.

"Enough." - she spoke inside her mind. Then she yelled louder and louder until the word became a scream in her mind. Her eyelids flew open. She could hear Frieza's sickening laughter.

"WHERE IS YOUR PRIZED COMMANDER NOW, BROTHER?!"

Celeria suddenly felt her strength returning. Her chest felt like it was on fire, but she managed to breath, even if her breaths were shallow and brief. Her heart pounded in her ears, but she composed herself. She pressed against the ground and got to her knees and then to her feet. She turned around and directed a glare of superiority at the overlord. She would live to see him fall. They all would. The commander would make sure of that. Grabbing the unconscious doctor by the collar, she dragged him along to the hushed ovations of her comrades. Soon enough, they were in the ship and Celeria handed Kale over to Grape and Keyla and was placed into a healing tank. Reluctantly, she fell into a deep sleep.

Cold waited rather impatiently for his eldest son's response. Cooler was up to something, and it wouldn't be long before he exposed his plans. Before any further words could be spoken however, one of the monkeys snapped free of its little group and dived towards Freeza. King Cold's scouter instantly flickered to life, and it provided him with an astronomical power level reading. This was not possible, not for lesser life forms such as these. A single Saiyan tallied in at over 400,000! That was almost as powerful as Freeza in his base form. Was this how his youngest son had been reduced to a mechanised husk? Such a power reading was unheard of for lesser forms of life. Surely this could not be a maverick reading. Surely the other Saiyans were similarly as capable, as evidenced by Freeza's growing fury towards the entire race. King Cold suddenly realised that their entire gene pool would have to be eradicated, with or without the cooperation of Cooler.

Before the monkey could reach Freeza, another monkey rendered him immobile with advanced telekinesis. The scouter informed him that she had similar power. The King frowned, for the first time since he'd arrived on this rock he was outwardly displaying his dissatisfaction at this turn of events. Even after the monkey became unconscious, Cooler displayed his foolish elation, Cold continued to contemplate this threat to their galactic hegemony. Whilst steeped in thought however, Freeza took the situation into his own hands and a ki blast knocked the female monkey to the floor. Blood erupted from her wounds like oil freed from a well. The King grinned, but before long she climbed to her feet. Outrageous! Nobody could survive the Death Beam, it had been an attack engineered by himself generations ago, and was indefensible. Cold's eyes widened as he glared at the fallen monkey, one thing was now a certainty, he would talk to his eldest son.

"You mustn't be brash Freeza..." He uttered with a hint of pseudo calm in his voice. "You will have your time. Patience is the sweetest prerequisite to victory." He smiled, anger bubbling beneath his expression.

King Cold soon ordered his flagship to act as an escort for Cooler's. As he and his youngest son arrived at the command centre, he demanded two glasses of wine. Later, as Freeza left the bridge to contemplate his revenge, Cold sent a hailing frequency to his eldest son's. Before long Cooler appeared on the display before him.

"Now Cooler, I taught you far better than this, did I not?" He said with graveness. Freeza had exterminated the Saiyan race because he had feared their growing strength. King Cold had always thought his son to be paranoid, now he saw firsthand that he was correct.

Cooler was seated comfortably in the control room, meticulously supervising the steady spread of his influence across the galaxy. The pace was reliable, but far too steady for his taste. He needed true power among his ranks. And the sheer force that these saiyans possessed... it was beyond anything he could've expected. He began to understand why his paranoid brother saw them as a threat, even when their power levels were miniscule. No matter, he thought to himself. He deemed his own leadership skills far greater than that of his maniacal little brother. As he was considering the best way to introduce the saiyans to his employ, liutenant Sauza informed him that a call was incoming.

He scarcely needed a second guess. Father dearest, sniffing around for the latest news. Lord Cooler grinned. It was far too obvious he had riled them both up. Good.

"Why father, to what do I owe this unexpected pleasure? It has indeed been a long time since my ship was graced with your escort."

"Now Cooler, I taught you far better than this, did I not?"

"Ah, so like you. Always skipping the pleasantries." - Cooler's grin faded as he turned his back to the monitor.

"Unfortunately, I am rather preoccupied. A variety of tasks demand to be assigned to my newly-acquired workforce. Once a more leisurely moment presents itself, you are welcome to join me for a glass of wine."

"End transmission." - Cooler muttered to Sauza under his breath.

He was more than aware that he did not lie to his father. Although what is to be done with the saiyans remains to be decided, they have proven themselves a force not to be taken lightly. Thus, he began musing over the best way to proceed in the matter.

The image of Freeza was stained in his mind. The mechanised monster dominated his dream state as much as his wake. Kale remembered his own fury, his contempt for everything that Freeza had done to them all, and then he remembered betrayal. He saw Celeria's eyes, cold empty holes looking right through him as if he was nothing. She had tossed him aside as if he were the planet Vegeta itself, and even here in Kale's unconsciousness, it haunted him.

He was shocked into consciousness by the reverberating sound of the healing tank draining all the chemical fluids. The doctor's eyes widened instantly, at first he saw a white haze, and after a moment he made out the figure of a woman clad in standard issue PTO medical regalia. As his vision returned to him, Kale recognised that it was Keyla who was draining the tank. Where were they? Did Freeza now own them, or was Cooler their new master? The doctor exhaled heavily into his breathing apparatus. Soon the tank opened, and Kale stumbled towards a towel. Dabbing his face he sighed into the fabrics.

"We're safe, for now doctor. But you nearly got yourself killed." Said Keyla.

"That was the plan." he promptly responded, finally all flat out of humour.

"Well you're an idiot." She uttered, passing Kale a plain black bodysuit.

"Why aren't we all dead or in cuffs? Where even are we?" Kale replied as he proceeded to climb into the basic clothing.

"You're not going to like this, but we've been enlisted as Cooler's private medical team, the rest of the Saiyans are in his combat wing. He was amused by your assault on Freeza, that worked to our advantage. But..." Keyla started twiddling with the healing tank as she trailed off.

"But what?! Spit it out." As Kale finished suiting up, he threw his wet towel to the floor and scanned his surroundings. This all looked very contemporary, time really had passed outside of their bubble on the colony. But where was the team?

"The Commander was wounded by Freeza. After your assault he nearly killed her. Grape's seeing to her wounds in the upper medical bay. I thought it was best to heal you here after what... happened."

"You mean after how she betrayed me?" The doctor gritted his teeth and slouched against a silver panel against the wall.

"Damn it, you're not listening. She was in critical condition, we're lucky we never lost her... If you'd just waited for orders-" Keyla began to shout.

"She can't die nurse. She can never die, we've already talked about this, catch up. That thing inside her head keeps her alive. If we would have just attacked, the Commander's invulnerability might have put an end to that intergalactic bastard once and for all. So stop worrying about her, you're wasting our time. Plus it looks like Celeria is more of a threat to us than Freeza or Cooler is." Kale began to grow in anger himself, his fists clenched against his sides. How could she turn against him, after how she had personally prepared him for combat against these tyrants? This time, the Commander's actions had created a deep wound, and no healing tank could fix that.

"Yeah, alright doctor, I see your point. She knocked you out and you're angry, any Saiyan would be." She exhaled, obviously beginning to lose patients, "but she did so because it was your only chance of survival. We can bide our time-"

"This is probably the fifth time this week she's raised her hand to one of her own. And I make up at least fifty percent of all the casualties she's caused to others! She should focus on the enemies, not her friends. When I attacked Freeza my greatest threat wasn't the monster in front of me, it was the Commander behind. " Kale stormed across the medical bay and rummaged through standard issue military equipment, finally he found a scouter.

"Stop over exaggerating. Do you think she wanted to hurt you?"

"YES." He exclaimed, clipping his scouter to his ear and activating it. "She's starting to look no better than Brokka."

The doctor heard the clanking of Keyla's feet on the metal floor as she steamed towards him. Why didn't he just get a bullseye tattooed onto his face instead? It would obviously save so much time! As she came within swiping distance, she swung for him with her fist. Kale's anger suddenly spiked, and he caught her fist in his grip effortlessly. Then, with little concentration, he applied pressure to Keyla's hand and he felt her bones buckle beneath the force. She pulled away and hissed in a cocktail of pain and anger.

"Yeah, I'm not a Saiyan piƱata anymore either." He grinned angrily.

"Fine if you resent her so much then you'll be glad to know we've been removed from the Commander's team." Keyla steamed off back towards the healing tank, she was obviously brooding her defeat.

So he wouldn't be seeing her anymore? The doctor froze in his tracks for a moment. These past few months his entire life had been dictated by Celeria's planning and training. Hell, they'd even been close on one occasion, had his actions against Freeza really caused him to be forced from her command? He couldn't hide that in all of his fury he still felt regret. Yes, he felt betrayed but now they were completely separated. After a second the doctor shook his head, freeing himself of yet another guilt trip.

"Good. That means I can focus on helping the Saiyans again. She won't be getting in the way of that..." She had created this after all. She had unmercifully beat Kale's compassion out of him, and she'd created something new. If all Celeria cared about with duty and submission, then so do he.

She woke to the sound of the draining mechanism, instantly opening her eyes. Even through the hazy liquid, she could make out a familiar face. Grape was standing at the console, monitoring her vitals. It was good to see him. It felt good to breathe, to be alive. She rolled back her shoulders as she rose up into a standing position, taking off the oxygen mask. There were two more figures in the distance which beckoned poise. The Commander stepped onto the cold floor, completely bare but giving off the impression of being fully armored.

"Lord Cooler, liutenant Sauza... to what do I owe this honor?" - she picked up a towel from Grape before wrapping herself and dropping swiftly on one knee. As she was lowering her head, it occurred to her that she saw a glimpse of something familiar that thoroughly upset her.

"Why, we've come to personally congratulate you on your promotion, general." - Cooler spoke casually, with a hint of eager amusement in his voice.

Celeria felt a sharp pain in her chest, seeing in her mind's eye the red beam that pierced her, cutting her heart in two. She stood up slowly and gracefully without a word as the attendants began dressing her. The bodysuit, the ornate boots and gloves, the cape of royal purple and, finally, the golden shackles of duty. Commander Celeria, no... General Celeria was a slave once more. She tightened the muscles in her arms in order to conceal the trembling of her hands. They had dressed her thus for a purpose. Perhaps it was Cooler's way of proving that he saw everything, that they were in his grasp the entire time and that the notion of freedom and justice was but an illusion.

He had, however, made a great mistake. She still drew breath. And as long as she drew breath, all those who opposed her and the race she was entrusted to protect were already dead. Celeria smiled.

"I thank you for this great honor, Lord Cooler. I will see to it that your generosity is not wasted." - she nodded respectfully before adjusting her scouter.

The three then exited, relating the particulars of Celeria's new duties and upcoming missions.

"Sire, once again it is an honour."

Cold's Special Force knelt together in perfect procession before their King. There was six warriors in total, each clad in unique armour crafted specifically for their talents and special abilities. In all, the team represented the finest in King Cold's arsenal. These warriors were from all corners of his intergalactic empire, and there was not a more formidable team in the entire universe. The Ginyu Force and the Armoured Squad were child's play compared to what Cold had built as the ultimate expression of his strength.

Captain Brass; Lieutenant Bronze; Chief Solder; Sergeant Foil; Corporal Iron; and Private Pewter. This was the chosen team that would eradicate the remaining Saiyans. Something had now become perfectly clear to King Cold. Freeza was right to be cautious, and Cooler was foolish to be so reckless. If each monkey did indeed possess similar fighting abilities to what he had observed, and there was in fact a separate sect of monkeys that were infinitely more powerful, then this insurgence had to be burned to a crisp eminently.

King Cold sat in a dominating throne at the heart of his command centre. The shadow of his grand chair fell over the Special Force, cloaking them in a sinister blackness. As usual, the bridge was dimly lit, and only the most trusted of Cold's servants operated the ship's systems. King Cold's large hands gripped the arms of his throne as he peered down at his warriors. He grinned, his lips thinning until they were a crimson line spread across his purple cheeks.

"I will not waste your time with pleasantries. You have already received the brief correct?" Cold's stare was unwavering.

"Yes Sire." Said Brass, his vision constantly to the ground. "Our target is the Saiyans."

"They will wear Planet Trade Organisation colours, but be assured they are not one of us. They serve my son, but they are no alley of mine. Trace my son's orders, intercept his transmissions and rectify this monkey infestation when the situation presents itself."

"Of course, Sire." Responded Brass.

"Make yourself known when they are most vulnerable and isolated. The most powerful moneys are your primary targets. Eliminate them in secrecy from Cooler if possible, I will deal with the rest." King Cold leaned forward towards his Special Force, his shadow further extended over them. "Nobody stands against my empire." He giggled lightly.
